I had an email from the Goodwood Hotel the other day offering a special New Years Eve deal and we've gone for it as our usual NYE dinner party with friends can't go ahead due to the current situation and after spending Christmas very quietly we just need to do something.

A five course dinner at the Farmer, Butcher, Chef, a bottle of champagne in your signature king room, a full english breakfast and full use of all the leisure facilities for £425.00 for two seemed pretty good value and talking to them they seem to be taking the rules very seriously which gave me the confidence to give it a go.

I'm just checking on here to see if any other pistonheaders will be there?

I've also asked them if I can get a round of golf in while we're there and I'm waiting to hear back on that.

Yep, I'm afraid so. A very nice young lady from Goodwood phoned me last night to tell me that it was off and my payment would be refunded today.

My wife was a bit disappointed but not as much as today when our daughter phoned her to say the smallest grandaughter had a high temperature so they were all getting covid tests and definitely would not be coming to ours for a much looked forward to and extensively prepared for Christmas lunch tomorrow.

Shame, yet another thing that they (and you / others) had been planning for that's fallen by the wayside, I've not planned anything out of the U.K. next year and there's still a doubt in my mind that all the things I'd like to do will actually happen frown
