Cashless Revival
Discussion
I know this was discussed before with respect to FoS...
email from Goodwood today says;
"As we aim to provide the best possible experience for all our Revival guests, we are proud to deliver a fully cashless service.
From 2019, no cash will be accepted for any purchase made within our indoor catering enclosures. GRRC enclosures and all food concessions will now accept card payments.
This will mean shorter queuing times, more payment options available, including Apple Pay and Google Pay and increased security.
All payments can be made using the following methods:
All major contactless debit and credit cards, with chip and pin applying for purchases over £30
Mobile and wearable payment, including Apple Pay and Google Pay
Goodwood gift card – Goodwood gift cards will be available to redeem at the Goodwood Hotel restaurants"
I don't actually think much of this... old fashioned I may be, but I find it easier to keep track of cash than card payments.
Don't get caught out - take your cards.

None of my cards are contactless.
Are vendors allowed to refuse legal tender?
No there is no law that requires them to accept cash or any other payment type, they can use whatever payment method they like. Are vendors allowed to refuse legal tender?
A lot of small shops and cafes have gone cashless because it makes their life easier, no money on the premises, no need to take it to the bank and the associated risk.

Spent 4 days in Stockholm a few months ago - didn’t use cash once. 100% cards - we are heading for a cashless society.
Yep, I’m just back from Copenhagen and Oslo. All card payments I didn’t even see any cash.I use a Revolut card for smaller purchases. Very convenient, easy to keep track and very simple to exchange currencies in a virtual wallet.

It’s cashless not contactless. You can still put your card in the machine. Are vendors allowed to refuse legal tender?
It’s a great move I’ve been in far to many lines for beer in the past with people fumbling to the bottom of a never ending handbag to try and find that last 20p to pay.
For me using Apple Pay and online banking is a far quicker way to keep tabs on spending.
