Does this mean the shackles can finally come off and F1 cars are aloud to compete as they were banned after that accident due to the speed?

If you watched Oliver Solberg's run, you wouldn't think anyone was shackled!

Have been wondering this myself. Sure there are more capable Hill climb specials as well which could have a crack at it too if they had a chance

There were back in the day but I think they do not allow them to make it more entertaining and less embarrassing for the big manufacturers. Bloody typical I miss this year and the record is broke though!

Have just put the live stream on and rewinded back to the lap. Car looked alot more confidence insipring then the Heidfeld record did.

The Mclaren was squirming all over the place and looked like it needed man handling. The VW looked awesomely planted.

Think we would all love to see a more modern F1 car have a crack with full slick tyres smile

The hillclimb has been resurfaced since then

Does it ‘officially’ count before Sunday?

Apart from the fact that F1 cars aren't really suited for hillclimbing, I think the FIA stamped down on the current cars trying to set times as it breached their testing limits rules.

I thought that the IDR deliberately slowed yesterday and probably could have broken the record on its first serious run.

The post-run interviews and commentary suggested it does.

If that’s the case and the weather forecast for Sunday looking like it might be turning damp, Sky Sports are going to be very pissed off. hehe

Can’t compare the two runs. Dumas was in a car running hill climb spec, Heldfeld was simply a driving God that day

Need to let another F1 car have a crack, it’s only fair!

Not with state of the art F1 cars.

The hill is just too bumpy with weird and changing cambers for modern F1 cars to really handle.

If he’d had a heart attack on the M25 would you ban all traffic, would you stop motorway usage.
