Hi folks

First time I am attending FOS this year and going on Sat and Sun.

Will be travelling down from the North via M1 tomorrow and just wondered if anyone had any advice in terms of the best options for routes.

I have looked at Waze and google maps and they are suggesting two different routes, wondering which one might be best for traffic in terms of other peoples past experiences:

- Waze says M1 to J9 then A34 and M27 to approach from the west.
- Google maps says M1, M25 and A3 approaching from north (this looks like the route from London as well so i think this might be busiest?)

Any tips very much appreciated on the above routes or any alternatives I should consider.

Thanks

Depends on the time of day you get down here, with Goodwood earlier is better, the M27 currently has a long 50 mph section of roadworks with average speed cameras, the A34 can be busy with trucks as it's one of the main routes down from the Midlands, I'd make a choice using live traffic data once you get closer to coming off the M1

The A3 ends at the M27 at Havant, the same place Waze will have you approach from the West.

However it really depends on the time. During busy periods the Waze route should be quieter however in clear driving conditions, the Google route is best.

Personally I'd get up early, do the Google route however drop off the A3 at one of different points and take the back roads for some spirited driving:

- Petersfield - South Harting - Chilgrove
- Hindhead - Midhurst - Singleton
- Guildford - Petworth - Chidingfold

I tend to go A3 - A282 - A286 down through Cocking and Singleton, then that gets you into the the north west carpark that is just above the silly Supercar parking bit. Much closer than the main south carparks, if you're early it's about 2 minutes walk to the ticket gates.

I've found the A27 route in to be an utter pain no matter what time of day you arrive or leave.

No ideas for a name

Interesting - to me this means Waze (which I have never used) - should never be used!
That route is madness. M27/A27 will be a carpark.

As others have said, get to Guildford area (via either M3 to Frimley and back over the hogs back, cutting through Puttenham), or A3. A3 would be prefered, but it depends on the state of that last bit of the M25 - if you are stuck in traffic - bail out early and go down the M3.

Turn off at after the BP garage on the A3 in to Milford, then down via Petworth.
My top-tip is to ignore the last AA signs that say FoS traffic this way - and go straight down the A285 turning right in to New Road.
Yesterday, using a similar route - zero delays, not even a stop at the gate - was parked up before 07:30

This is the way I went yesterday, for the same reasons.
No problems yesterday, although I got there at 7.30am.
When you go through Singleton, turn left for the open air museum
best to avoid A27 and Chichester at all, even through the A27 is technically quicker- it wont be!

Always go in from the north and if they try and put you in the south car park. Lie and say you need to get to the performance carpark :P. As said the North car parks are far better as you walk straight into the paddock.

Thanks all for the responses. Parking in the performance parking (or "silly supercar parking" as an earlier poster described it smile ) anyway so car park options not an issue. Will definitely ignore Waze by the sounds of it.

Not got the tickets on me but it's the original one I think near the F1 paddock, not the east performance car park.
