Goodwood FOS - Go in the morning or afternoon?
Discussion
FoS is huge, 2 hours is nowhere near enough time to get around and see the stands, paddocks etc let alone any of the hillclimb, rally stage or off road stage!
I'd suggest aiming to get there early/mid morning, you may hit some traffic but at least you'd have the most the day to explore it all.

OK, wow! I've clearly underestimated this event.
Guess I'll be heading there in the morning!
The main thing we're going to see are the super/hyper cars, everything else is a bonus really.
Think Glastonbury for cars.... Guess I'll be heading there in the morning!

... you don't just rock up half hour before the headliner at Glastonbury and expect to get a good view ...

I'm heading up to Goodwood FOS on the Sunday with my 2 kids. (Coming from North London, about a 2 hour drive.)
First time going, some I'm wondering, would it be better to get there early (and what time)? or be there for about 2 hours before it finishes at 7?
Thanks!
What age are the kids? The event site is huge and can be a tough day with young children. First time going, some I'm wondering, would it be better to get there early (and what time)? or be there for about 2 hours before it finishes at 7?

As others have said traffic can build up so the earlier the better. The highlight of Sunday is the shootout final worth staying to watch that.
It’s mainly an event for racing cars with about 20 super cars that run up the hill.

Paying £70 for a ticket for something that I’d go to for 2 hours seems crazy.
That was my first thought too, but then my forum name isn't "MrVeyron"! I'm not sure it's even feasible to get into the event at that time is it, by mid-afternoon all the traffic flow is dedicated to getting people out. E.g. Kennel Hill as far as the racecourse becomes one-way with both lanes heading north, I assume there are similar arrangements on the other routes?

I'd be there as early as is humanly possible. Sunday is easily over 100,000 people. You still won't see everything even if you're there first in the gate and last out.First time going, some I'm wondering, would it be better to get there early (and what time)? or be there for about 2 hours before it finishes at 7?

The event is now capped at 150,000 I believe and used to be a sell out. I think last year tickets were still available up to the event excluding Saturday. I went for an hour on a Sunday a few years back. A friend put a ticket through my door late on Saturday but I already had plans for the following day. So as not to waste it I popped down in good time for it opening, bought a bacon sandwich and had a quick look around the paddock. I was back home again by 8.30!
