Hello All,
I will be in U.K. in first part of July.
I have especially planned this time as I would like to attend the GFOS.
What ticket do any of you recommend I buy, and why ?
I am from South Africa, so know very little of the details and would really appreciate any info.
Many thanks, B

Just buy a weekend ticket, dont bother with grandstands.

Get in as early as possible for best photo ops of cars in the paddock.

Be prepared to walk bloody miles.....especially to the Rally stage - but DO make the effort.

FOS is like nothing else, lots moan its become to popular, but there isnt much else like it for petrolhaed nirvana.

Buy tickets for as many days as you feel comfortable affording. Agree that getting there early is key, at least for one of the days. Get in for 7am, as the gates open. Park up, whizz through the paddock, when very few people are there.

If you’re going to be there all day, think about bringing some snacks and drinks. If you bring a bag / rucksack, it’ll get searched. So bear that in mind, in terms of queuing to get in. But at least you’ll save a few £’s if you’re carrying some sustenance with you.

There’s a lot of walking involved. So it’s worth scoping out a few spots where, if you fancy a sit down or a rest. Then you can park yourself, if you fancy a break and chill out for an hour. Food and drink on site, can be expensive. Toilets can be pretty busy, so bear that in mind.

Wear something comfortable, probably couple of the layers. Then I’d it gets cold or hot (!), you can layer up / strip off, if need be. Thursday/ Friday are less busy. With Saturday and Sunday having more action on the hill. Rally stage is worth going to one day. But it does take ages to get up there and back.

Other than that, I’d say soak it up, as and how it comes. And be prepared to mooch about a bit. If you can’t see something so easily one day. Good chance you can make an effort to see it the next.

Big thank you to both of you for your valued advice !
I think I'm going to get a Admission ticket for the Thur, Fri and Sat only. As you both suggest, no need for a grandstand !
I don'y mind walking, so this should not be an issue hopefully.
Right now as it is, I stand 10 hours a day at work and walk around alot !
Are we allowed to bring in snack and drinks, or do they force you to buy inside ?
Thanks again for your time and effort in responding !

If you're going for the first three days I'd suggest the Sunday as well - it'll be a day to relax and take in the action on the hill, culminating in the timed run off.
