I'm pretty sure that last time I went to FOS (a few years back) we paid a fiver at most for the programme and radio earpiece. It now looks like its £18 which seems pretty steep. Just me and my dad going this year so it is worth picking up 1 between us? And what do you get for that? Is this the only way to know the running order up the hill each day?
I know everything get's more expensive but £18 for a programme seems a bit OTT.

It is a bit steep that's true but if it was ever a fiver that was a very long time ago; the furthest I can check back is 2013 when I paid £12 and that was with the GRRC member's discount.
I always buy a programme to keep, usually picking it up on the way out and reading it back at home. I find it too big to carry around on the day. I don't find a need for the earpiece as you mostly hear the commentary through the speakers wherever you are. The programme contains lots of details of the cars but if all you want is the running order up the hill that will be somewhere on Goodwood's website a few days before the event.

Generally I find Goodwood's programmes too stuffed full of advertisements. I never bother buying one at the FoS but for the Revival I like to know who's racing so the little retro race programme is excellent. But, it' expensive when you consider the large Revival programme is mostly adverts.
FYI ... you can get it for £14 if you pre-order it from the Goodwood site.
3 parts - Glossy programme, separate timetable and the on-ear radio. You can usually pick up a free Telegraph on the gate that comes with a cotton bag so you can put the Glossy in a safe place.
From the website:
"Pre-order your weekend event programme, track timetable & radio ear piece, for collection on arrival. £18 if purchased on the day. Buy today and save £4!"
