Hi,

The BBC website is showing rain on Saturday. I was wondering if his Lordship has done anything with improving the resilience of the car parks to rain? I want to take my MX-5 and my wife needs the XC90 to move the kids around.

Have they sorted this, or is it still a mud fest and definitely bring a 4x4.

Regards

A little rain in the afternoon - knowing the climate of the Goodwood Circuit, all 4 seasons will happen on the day smile

From the Revival FAQ https://www.goodwood.com/flagship-events/goodwood-...

"What parking improvements have been put in place?

This year, one major improvement project will be noticeable from the moment you arrive in our car parks. Last year we used crushed stone tracks in car park 'A' to aid traction, these being aesthetically acceptable to both the Estate and the South Downs National Park. We now plan to use these stone tracks in car parks 'B' and 'C' subject to planning consent from the local authority. As part of our investment plan for the future, we are now also looking at using a plastic gridding solution. This provides a firmer surface for vehicles, while protecting the grass, so will help make parking much more pleasant whatever the weather."

Having said that I very much doubt that the fields will get waterlogged now, even if it rains all weekend.

Thanks. Does anyone know if they got the planning consent and did the work?

Having managed to attend Goodwood the past two years on the ‘rainy’ day I keep an eye on the weather.
Firstly, the BBC forecasts online have been rubbish. I think they moved from met office data to another place, to my mind I don’t trust their forecasts any more.
Luckily the other ones I use seem to have better weather forecast.

Another thing, having lived in Bognor nearby, the area is a microclimate. While rain can form on the Goodwood hill, it can be sunny in the ,bowl of Goodwood, Bognor, Chichester.

I’ve avoided muddy car parks this year and last, by doing a package that give parking at the Goodwood Hotel.

The first year I went my Caterham looked like it had just done a rally stage.

Fingers crossed for no rain!

There's no sign of an application yet on the Chichester District Council website so I suppose this is a long-term plan. I guess the thing to do if it looks like being a problem is to use car park 'A' where the work has already been done. This would probably mean you'd need to approach from the north.

As a side issue it's interesting to note that the boundary of the South Downs National Park runs along New Road, dividing the Goodwood estate. While the motor circuit comes under the CDC planning authority, the rest of Goodwood (including car park 'A') comes under the SDNPA.

Exactly.....waste of time going near the BBC forecasts.

Use the Met Office website directly.

Friday now looking best day weather wise, with a lot of sunny weather and now with a 40% chance of rain on Saturday afternoon, and dry but overcast on Sunday.

No metal tracks, but some stoned 'roads'. Bone dry at the moment though there is some rain in the wind.
Everything should be fine.
