Revival air display
Discussion
Probably the best area would be near the flight apron where the Spitfire cafe is ie, near to the GRRC members' enclosure as the planes aren't allowed to fly over the crowds anymore since that wker at Shoreham, and they will fly in a circuit, the closest being when they fly along the line of the runway....
I went on the first Saturday of the Revival 20 years ago and the flying was spectacular. I did wonder about the aircraft being allowed to fly over us. I was annoyed that I wasn't there for Ray Hanna's famous startline fly through. A fly through is where you are at 20 feet attitude going between the grandstand and the pits/ clock tower at 200+ knots! Photos of the event out there in google land for the uninitiated.

There’s only 3 air displays showing on the timetable:
Friday - mustang 0800
Saturday - mustang 0830, spitfire and mustang duo 1905
Sunday - spitfire 0830
Which means that there will be almost no Sterile Zones imposed for too long before and after the displays, which limited trackside viewing of the racing in those areas.Friday - mustang 0800
Saturday - mustang 0830, spitfire and mustang duo 1905
Sunday - spitfire 0830

That's a bit minimal compared to previous years. Costs or more regulation or both I wonder.
Regulations because of the need of the sterile areas, post Shoreham.Understandably, its now just not worth the hassle and disruption to the rest of the event, which is a crying shame as it had always been an intrinsic part of the event.
In 2009 I was doing a parade lap, going down Lavant with the Lancs coming the other way, that will probably never happen again, the Cricket match display (when you had to have an invite to go) was fantastic, I was also at the circuit for that Spitfire Moment, buzzed the Bristol going up the start / Finish straight then had to pull up at the chicane :-)

Here’s a video clip from 1998...

Air displays may not have improved in terms of spectacle since but video quality certainly has. Anyway, it captures the moment!
