Maybe a daft question, I know the performance parking is limited to only particular performance cars, but what’s the point in it and why are people willing to pay so much for it?

it is a chance to show off your car, plus, you get parking in the middle of it all.
some of the poor people car parks can be quite a walk away

The closer parking is the main reason as it's much easier if you want to take and have access to a picnic lunch, drinks, camera wet weather gear etc. It's also a slightly quicker route overall once you factor in the walk.

just about to book tickets for the Thursday and considered this fancy pants parking too as I ''qualify''..

Do cars have to be in this parking area by a certain time though? I'm coming from Cardiff which is the best part of 3 hours and I cant quite confirm id be there for the 7.30am opening time.

And on a side note..seen as Thursday is the only day I'm able to go, has does anyone done day 1 of Goodwood previously and what did you think?

cheers

I have done the thursday when its been the moving motor show and its been excellent. Much quieter (lesser so in recent years). Perfect day to wonder round, especially the paddocks and i have driven a few cars up the hill. Best was top speed in a Renault Twizzy.

Looks slightly different this year, but still my preferred day
