I have been going since 1997 and the event has changed so much since that time.
As you are going all four days, you will be completely shattered if you spend all four walking around the event. But yet it depends on what you are interested in. As I do not look round the stalls or manufactures stand, because it does interest me what so ever.
What I tend to do, is spend the Thursday and Friday walking around the paddocks. Saturday, I take my folding chair and spend the day sitting opposite the house (as it makes a good back drop for my photos). On the Sunday, I sit down on the 'first corner' for the day.
I would recommend the rally stage.
But it is all up to the individual.

Hey mate, this will be my second time visiting FoS from abroad and I'm happy to chat around on the spot or probably have a pint there.
So after my last year experience, I've come up with better plan.
For me the rally stage is great, a lot of good cars, amazing drivers/owners although you probably can't see the cars in all of the stage, the tips to go there are come early for free tractor ride uphill and spend few hours there and just walk down the hill.
Bonhams auction can be fun, but they are pricey, you need 50 quid for the catalogue but I found it worth it, beside the toilet there is better than anything around FoS.
Don't forget to go to Cartier concours next to the House, you can find the world's greatest car and admire it without any barrier whatsoever.
Thursday, probably the best day to explore the manufacturer and commercial stands. Also starting from last year, Thursday would be "practice" day for the shootout, so paddock would be busy and would be great time to meet driver/owner/mechanics since there are less people there. Don't expect a lot of celebs tho.
Friday is usually where I go to rally stage and hanging out in the paddock.
Saturday is when I come to the hillclimb, I prefer to sit around Flintwall since in front of you there is jumbotron and you can see the car getting full on throttle there. Of course it depends on the person, some prefer the startline, in front of the house or in the molecomb.

Thursday, I look around the stands and queue for any experiences that are on offer. ie Quad bikes, Landrover, Jaguar etc. Also collect some of the various freebies being handed out. Audi stand has free cloth bag that you can put other stuff in. Honda usually has a goodie bag with notebook, sunglasses and sweets in.
Friday morning, I watch the hill climb from the first corner after the startline, public grandstand with screen. Meet friends for a lunchtime drink and chat about what's new that I might have missed...then go and visit whatever Also the paddocks.
Saturday morning, tractor ride to Rally stage at top of the hill. It stops for an hour at lunchtime, so walk down the hill while it's still going on to see the cars at various parts of the stage. More watching of the hill climb at different places.
Sunday , try and see or do anything that I've missed.

I think Goodwood exclude more than 4 cans on a person - might be less now as they've had issues with the horse racing and drunkeness.
There are bars around, selling beer at a premium in cheap plastic glasses.

5ltrs (or 3ltrs) rip the box off and put the bag of wine at the bottom of the picnic basket sausage rolls pork pies bake well tarts all on top of it. Easy in.
I do this for every rugby game I attend - saves a fortune.
I arrive nice and early , leave my place at 6 , normally parking up at Goodwood just before 7
First thing i always aim for is the Cartier style et luxe
Get over there before the crowds come and you get to have a good look at some really special machinery!
I really enjoyed seeing this Early Koenigsegg CC8S last year
I have been going since 2012 , and i look forward to it every year!
I'm going on the Thursday this year , and on my own for the first time. The Hype is building!
