Horrid weather, feel for the organisers and crowd there. Can't be much fun no matter how hard a motorsport fan you are.

We were in the Lavant Bank parking and got stuck. The general parking must have been an absolute nightmare! The marshals standing out there on the circuit deserve a medal

Once I'd got past the "Oh cock, it's stuck" annoyance it was just funny, and the guy running the tractor round up there sorted everyone out who was stuck at that point except the Bentley as the owner had obviously just decided he was going to worry about it at home time and gone.
Other than that it was a really good day, particularly watching some of the Moss Trophy cars flinging it around on a wet and oily track, epic car control. Left a bit earlier than we might as a bit anxious about the weather and wanted to get off the grass before everyone was leaving as feared it would be havoc later on.
Those pics are sad to see, glad you had a good time but its a big risk shedding out cash for a ticket and then have to put up with really crap weather.
Can't have been much fun for the various vendors either.
Hope its better for people tomorrow but the weather is getting worse where I live

Risk of holding an event in March (or in the UK in general). Had similar in my Elise at Snetterton for a race weekend in June or July a few years ago. Can't have been much fun for the various vendors either.

To be fair they did drop the parking requirements for the Lavant Bank parking due to conditions, so there were lots of 4x4's there. Don't think my Fiesta would really have faired any better though so took the Evora anyway, someone in a Citroen Berlingo didn't even make it as far as we did!

I only stayed for 6 hours (anxious about getting home) and that was with a 4 hour round trip. Absolutely loved it though, if it's going to be wet and horrible I'll take the unique spectacle of snow at a circuit event every time. Was it the day I was expecting? Absolutely not. Did I come away with some truly unique memories and photos? Absolutely.

The Goodwood thing is becoming a money making machine above all else. Event should have been cancelled with so many consistently poor weather warnings. Travelled from York to the event, will be round tripping, don’t want the hastle.
Piss poor.

The cold didnt dampen our spirits too much, but it was very cold! Thank heavens for the fire pits...the organisers certainly thought it through.
I also had to get towed out of the car park...didnt come as much of a surprise. The speed it was handled though was great...from stuck in the mud to on my way out of the gate within 5 mins
..top stuff.

Unfortunately the organisers have learned nothing from the Revival as far as car parking is concerned. The tractor has churned up the car parks something rotten, so lord knows what tomorrow will be like.
Not enough of the metal tracks imho. OK some people have little idea, and I got out ok in the GMC van no trouble. With the price of GRRC membership and the price of the tickets I would expect better. I know they can't control the weather, but they could do a lot more to deal with it.
The events company who do the parking should be given a decent level to adhere to. Sorry, but it could be a lot better with not a lot more effort.
Otherwise, fantastic racing and look forward to tomorrow.

I certainly had a good day at the circuit and I think there would have been far more disappointed Members if the event had been cancelled vs running the event. Piss poor.

A few weeks ago a mate of mine asked me if I fancied going.
I balked at the price (especially as it was freezing in 2016 when we last went). He seemed relieved, given one of us would have to pay £38 to join the GRRC to "allow" us to buy tickets, and then £86 a ticket!
So I watched the first 2 races on the live feed and they looked great - but I was so glad I was watching at home in the warm rather than shivering track-side. I think it may be scheduled a couple of weeks too early in the year.
Still I will tune in tomorrow as the racing has been great!

I have been to race meetings all over the world and The Member's meeting is undoubtably one of the best I have attended.
Agreed. I used to attend upwards of 30 events per year but a young family means I now need to be very selective. The Members Meeting is top of the list. It's not cheap but I doubt there is another event in the world where you get almost 100% access to the entire event (I think there are maybe one or two restaurants out of bounds to regular folk). On top of that, despite some incredibly impressive and rare racing cars and many top drivers, the capacity is such that it feels very personal.
The best bit for me, is that despite 20,000 attendees, a good 16,000 or so never seem to leave the pit straight. Wander around the circuit and it's like being at the your own personal race meeting at times.
I love the Festival of Speed but the Members Meeting is like somebody has taken my checklist of everything I want to improve about it, then done it.
It was... no beating around the bush... fking cold today My kidneys hurt like I'll be pissing blood for a week Not Goodwood's fault but I have to agree with earlier comments regarding the awful lack of management of the carpark surfaces. FGS, March runs a bloody huge estate, he must have access to a source of woodchips somewhere out there
However, it's still an incredible event and made even better by the numbers of attendees being lower than usual due to the crap weather. There should be a day like this for members only at the Revival and FoS, because they've massively outgrown the ability of the venues to cope with visitor numbers.
All the Goodwood staff are utter heroes to manage to put on the event at all, let alone run it as smoothly as it did! They deserve plenty of kudos

Awesome racing - especially the Bowler Cup.
Parking needs sorting. Why not get a tie-up with some of the local businesses and use their car parks, then run the shuttle buses from there? More metal tracking and loads of woodchip too. The parking is not run by the estate, but an events company...... might explain a bit
