Hearing rumours of new taller fencing.
Does anyone have any facts?

I went to the Southdown stages there last month.

There was higher fences erected where I stood at the chicane exit ,on the inside of the circuit.

They were not way over head height wire fences like a lot of other circuits but deffo more substantial than the previous stuff.

I don't know either if further fence was to be added on top of what I saw.

That bit from the chicane by the Marshal hut is head height. It was eye level for me.

It’s a metal fence that’s probably about a foot taller than previous however they’ve cladded it with wood on the track side and on top. They’ve also installed a new viewing area with banking near the skid pan.

The viewing area might be linked to the Members Meeting

It’s a permanent structure which doesn’t look like it will be ready in time for MM

Could be related to the incident where there was the somersault issue during a race on exit from chicane ending up with the car upside down over the pedestrian tunnel?

You are thinking of the building work which is the Aero club. That's been going on for quite a while now.

No I’m talking about the new viewing area being built by the skid pan. I’ve been at the circuit 3 times in the last week and it is definetley a permeant raised viewing bank with new fencing.

It is a wooden base filled with earth then a stone layer on top. It has steps at various locations up onto the structure (about 4ft high) with the new metal fencing along its length.

I am at the circuit tomorrow and will take a photo.

If you have access to Instagram/Twitter you can see the new viewing area in this video: https://mobile.twitter.com/NickTrott27/status/9696...

I now know where you mean. I live at the circuit. There is no need for any additional photos/
