Will there be pressure to follow suit with F1?
I'm almost afraid to say it but it would be a shame.

I'd say knowing Goodwood there are likely to be more grid girls because of the F1 ban !

As the Revival seeks to re-create a former age, I'd have expected grid girls to remain a part of the 'show'.

But not like this:

Having watched racing in the period Goodwood 'recreates' trust me - there were no grid girls , just a few old boys in overcoats and hats ......

Now THAT is a well observed point & the smart-arses who advise & run the Revival, proud of their adherence that everything is in 'period' get it wrong.

I've been to 2 of the new member's meetings and don't remember grid girls but I suspect it might be too cold in March for them .

Why should his Dukeness follow F1 protocol anyway ?

Actually I am far more relaxed about it - Goodwood is unique . It's an homage. sometimes a pastiche of the past and judged on that basis , it's brilliant. But I do get very tight lipped at the people who think it IS a recreation of Sixties racing, let alone the panto dressing up bks(yes yes , some love it but I find , for example a dress code to get into the paddock absurd . )

If it did recreate Sixties racing it'd cost a (inflation adjusted ) fiver to get in, the PA would work sporadically , you'd find the toilets by smell, the food would be disgusting, cars would break a lot , and often catch fire , at least one driver would leave in the St John's ambulance. marshals would wear tweed and Barbour jackets, nobody would get a cigar for winning (which they never light at the Revival do they ?) but they'd cadge an Embassy tipped - and inhale . Grid girls ? Pah !

'The a past is a foreign country , they do things differently there '

Anyway I am at Members Meeting in three weeks time and am looking forward to it hugely
