State of car parks

I think the Somme analogy is unfair TBH... given the amount of rain yesterday, they were holding up fairly although getting a tad squelchy on the access tracks.
Was far more concerned at the transitions on the ally temporary surfacing that was being used... grounded an Exeo estate badly on exiting from car park C last night, which is hardly low...

I left car park C about 4pm today and was glad to have taken a 4WD as the car was slithering around in mud - some FWD cars were frantically wheelspinning their ways up the main arteries, and the tractor was already doing good business dragging RWD saloons from Munich out.
Wellies a requirement in the car park, or a couple of plastic bags over the feet until you get into the site...

Got stuck in the members' carpark whilst attempting to leave tonight. Tractor man wouldn't tow as he couldn't get to the towing eye. A chap lent me his wife to drive whilst we all pushed... And out it came. Not German RWD.. made by Brummies. I will probably get a bill from his lordship for taking away about 40kg of Goodwood branded mud.
Seriously could do with some more woodchip or straw.
It is a shame that many outfits will get ruined just trying to get from the carpark to the event. I swapped from shoes to 'intermediates' (walking shoes), should have gone for full wets (wellies).
Tomorrow should be fun.

Been to Goodwood today and yesterday and parked in car park A I think which takes you into the entrance over the road. It is muddy but the ground is firm underneath and I had no problem in a FWD car. Looking at some of the cars it looked they had been in a rally! But driving sensibly and don't spin it will be OK and we came out yesterday afternoon in heavy rain. Use the exit at the over end of the field to get out.
Enjoy if you are going tomorrow.

Exactly my experience today.Enjoy if you are going tomorrow.
Left the public car park at 7pm this evening and very very muddy with some having to be towed. Take a change of foot ware too as you will get muddy tomorrow as I doubt it will dry out much overnight unless a lot of straw is put down. I'd not take anything nice if parking in the public car park. There were lots of mud splattered cars on the M27 tonight. Great event and some fantastic racing. It's going to take some time tomorrow to get the mud off the outside and inside of the car!
The car parks and traffic were really bad today. It took the best part of an hour to get in and about the same to get out. The car park itself was in an horrendous state. The mud was unbelievable and the event tractors were making it even worse. Lots of people's shoes looked ruined, especially the ladies.
I know the weather can't be helped, but I do think they could have done more to keep the car park from becoming a mud pit. The event itself seemed even more crowded than normal so it's not like they aren't getting the cash in.

I was in the Members car park and got out easy enough... mostly because we were fortunate enough to be at the top of a slope that led directly to one of the gates. Employed the technique of using gravity and sliding mostly sideways out of the gate
It was bad. And not in a good way. Wouldn't have thought it would have blown Lord March's budget to get a couple of sacks of woodchip down
