GRRC Fellowship
Discussion
I don't think it is secret anymore...
What do we think? Just a way of increasing the revenues for Goodwood or is there something in this for enthusiasts?
The GRRC Fellowship is a new way into the Club, and is open to anyone to join immediately from 26th June, whether they’re waiting to one day become a Member, or plan on remaining a Fellow indefinitely. There are a limited and carefully selected range of Fellowship benefits which appeal to younger enthusiasts, Goodwood’s growing global motorsport audience and those who are waiting to become Members. This is great news for you as Members and for the Club as a whole, as it makes the GRRC more accessible and relevant to a wider audience, including young people, which will ultimately benefit everyone and ensures that the Club thrives long into the future.

Apologies to Ian if I jumped in first and you were going to draw attention to this yourself. I hope I don't get banned
I think my first view is the same lines as Aero8...
I was eagerly awaiting this announcement, and to be honest I am a bit disappointed.
I have been a member for a long time, and love the events (except FoS), the cricket match and I have also done a few laps of the track etc. It probably doesn't help that I am 200 miles away so don't get to use the Kennels like I would if I were a little more local.
But, there really doesn't seem to be much 'extra' for a member.
It looks like it is just a way to monitise the people on the waiting list.
I understand it is a business, and without profit, it would not exist. To me, it looks like the Members have just been diluted by those on the waiting list.
Don't get me wrong, I am sure they are fine and deserving people - I was on the waiting list too many years ago... This just dilutes the club they are waiting to get in to too.
More than a bit disappointed, though I really don't know what I thought the announcement would be.

Agree. This was sold for several weeks as exciting news for members. To say I'm disappointed, deflated and underwhelmed is an understatement.
I cannot see what difference any of this 'fellowship' stuff makes to me, a member of many years.
Undoubtedly the cash will continue to roll in (I'm not by any means against that) but it is invariably a crafty marketing ploy to increase revenue rather than provide any additional tangible benefits to existing members.
Not impressed.

You can stay as a fellow so if you don't use the kennels and paddock passes, save yourself £200+ and become a fellow. I think my first view is the same lines as Aero8...

It really has diluted the reason to be a member and there is no benefit for current GRRC members so why they label it as such who knows.
So you now have to pay to maintain your place on the membership waiting list each year and get some benefits yet to be defined as part of this new Fellowship group.
I'll be interested in seeing these benefits when they are published and comparing them to those offered to me as a member and seeing what my significantly larger payment to Lord March's bank balance gets me above and beyond the Fellowship group.

I don't think this announcement is going the way Goodwood hoped.
I don't know why, but I am beyond disappointed, I am actually quite angry.
I have met Lord March before, and I think he has done a tremendous amount for historic motorsport, and for that I thank him.
I genuinely feel I have been done over here after many year's of being a member.

I think it's a reasonable way of providing some benefits to those wanting to join but as yet not able to due to the length of the waiting list in exchange for a fairly modest annual fee.
It will be interesting to see how many current members elect to move across to Fellowship...
One area I'm wondering about is whether this will mean greater numbers that has been the case over the last couple of years at the Members Meeting.

Last week's email from GRRC.We are thrilled to let you know that Lord March has exciting GRRC news, to be revealed imminently.
Look out for an email next week when you'll be invited to view a personal message from Lord March.
So... apparently it is exciting.

I can't see a single benefit for existing members
apart from access to some videos on the GRRC website
increasing feel like there are very few benefits in being a GRRC member especially if you live 250 miles away
especially as because i normally buy tickets for the revival in august when i'll know if i can go, the tickets now seem to be sold out months before the events

I am massively underwhelmed. All I need now is another daffodil bulb in a fancy box arriving in the post.We are thrilled to let you know that Lord March has exciting GRRC news, to be revealed imminently.

To be fair, I did actually like that. Even though the postman wouldn't leave it when I was out so I had to drive to the delivery office to pick it up. That isn't Goodwood's fault though!A nice touch - but not really a member benefit.

Exciting news. No it's not.
You are fleecing the waiting list for cash and topping up attendance to an event you are in danger of pricing yourself out of.
Other than a couple of lunches in the Kennels this year I've had bugger all benefit for my membership. It wouldn't be so bad if the website actually allowed you to buy tickets at the discount but it never works and I always end up having to call.

Eh? No apologies necessary. I'm one of the many GRRC members who don't receive emails so your post was the first information I saw.I found the link elsewhere and posted it as an update to your post. I thought initially that it was only for GRRC members but strangely (actually quite cleverly) it works differently for members and non-members!
