So it's gone ticket only for breakfast club. And keeping it short notice I expect absolute carnage on Sunday!!
Inevitable, and in fact what I suggested on the thread regarding Supercar Sunday!15,000 tickets though, so still a large number of people and cars.
Sunday will be interesting....

Ridiculous to do it so close to the event, how many emails will be missed in the junk mail?
Not just me then, all Goodwood emails go into my junk, must be something off about the servers.Blimey. I wonder if it’s been forced upon them by the local council and they’ve had to do something at short notice to just keep them on side. I know there were a lot of upset people in Chichester last time, people who are normally ok with Goodwood events (plenty aren't). A lot of staff couldn’t get to work at Sainsburys in time as they were stuck in the traffic queues, the pharmacist was delayed for quite a while, that caused a few issues.
I’ve got a site pass for Sunday so will be ok, I hope every else manages to attend without issues and it’s more an exercise in ‘being seen to be doing something’ for the first one.

Methinks lots of people parking up in the field on Sunday morning, walking to the circuit and then being refused entry as they haven't registered?
"I predict a riot"
Unless the Marshalls are allowed to wave people through "just this once, as it's only just been announced".......
That's exactly what will happen."I predict a riot"

This has been done to appease the locals. I expect there to be very wide discretion on the gates on Sunday until this new requirement is better publicised.
Must have been the same when they started requiring cars to be registered - now it's the norm.
My take on this is that the local council have finally received enough complaints from residents and employers about the issues each event at the circuit causes. They have told Goodwood to provide attendance numbers so as to ascertain the levels of folk actually there and the only was the estate can do this is to issue tickets.
It doesn't bode well going forward if the council are looking at attendance numbers as they may be lining up Goodwood for a license of some sort to limit the number of events and/or attendance at those events over the course of a year. Many venues fall foul of council imposed limits on events held and numbers attending and perhaps Goodwood has now reached a level where the local council is now going to enforce whatever rules they can on the estate to try to placate the locals.
I'll be avoiding the meet this Sunday due to the issues pointed out above..............plus I have an invite to a tunnel run in London that will be more civilised I'm sure

There was chaos with the Supercar Sunday, traffic on every road heading towards the circuit. This has to be a plan by the council to limit numbers and be seen by local residents as doing something.
We will see on Sunday how it all works in practice, but I believe it will have to be a loose enforcement this time.

To be honest if this does limit the numbers allowed to attend it can't be a bad thing, it might actually filter out some of the issues which are apparent to me.
Sadly in my opinion the whole Breakfast Club thing has become an "it" event. An event full of so called youtube celebrities and wannabe's just showing off and just wanting to be there and tag themselves.
A few years ago, no matter what car you attended in, pretty much each and every person at Goodwood appreciated each and every car there and no one tried to make you feel insignificant. Rich or poor, cheap or expensive all were very much made to feel welcome with no relative judgements being made. The recent events, in my opinion have a far greater number of people who just buy an expensive car, because they can afford them and then attend as its an event to be seen at and to tag themselves at rather than actually appreciate the cars and efforts made by those displaying.
Maybe its just me being a grump and I'm happy to be told I am wrong but what was special to me was being able to take an old, relatively inexpensive E36 M3, which is my pride and joy and have people in cars 10+ times more expensive talk and appreciate the M3 as much as I do every other car there - because of the efforts made to attend.
I wouldn't call myself a snob on the whole, however I just think the touch of class, which Goodwood is traditionally associated with is missing. That touch of class isn't bought with money or wearing tweed, its just appreciating what Goodwood is about and what the core purpose of these events are. I will be there on Sunday in the M3 and hope to meet a few like minded people who just appreciate how fortunate we are to enjoy Goodwood and the cars attending and hope that the touch of class I have so much enjoyed at Goodwood in the past is in attendance as well.

Supercar Sunday was ridiculous, and if they were all going to be like that I wouldn't be bothering again. Something needed to be done.
At the risk of sounding like a moaning old tosser, the events had very much become full of "not our sort of people". Like all Goodwood events, to be fair. Once the hoi paloi move in, its time to start a cull. Anything that keeps the proles out is a good thing IMHO. Have to say, the "ticket ordering" system could be a bit slicker but I guess they just threw it together at the last minute

I would agree that something need to be done after the cluster copulation that was Supercar Sunday but to give that amount of notice is ridiculous. I would imagine that some very strong complaints about the traffic and behaviour of some drivers have been received. It will be very interesting to see what happens about Supercar next year.
I have got confirmation that I will be getting entry but to be honest if the weather forecast is rubbish I probably won't be going as I can see it being utter chaos. I would have thought the best thing to have done would be to postpone Softtop and give much notice for the next one in queue. Then if they can re-arrange it for later in the year.
I normally try to give Goodwood the benefit of the doubt on organisation because I have such a great time at all the events I go to but this is very poor especially as I follow them on Facebook and I can remember nothing about this being mentioned at all.
As I have said above this could be absolute chaos and that won't help the people who want to go or the people who live locally to whom Supercar was clearly the final straw.
