First visit to FoS
Discussion
Finally booked tickets to this years FoS after many years of wanting to go but never getting round to it.
Taking my wife and daughter (10yrs) and thought I'd ask what highlights, areas etc we should plan for on the Sunday. Plan is to be travel down on Saturday and book a hotel as close as we can get.

If you haven't booked a hotel now then you will not be getting very close!! Taking my wife and daughter (10yrs) and thought I'd ask what highlights, areas etc we should plan for on the Sunday. Plan is to be travel down on Saturday and book a hotel as close as we can get.
You're looking at the cheapest place being £102 which is Portsmouth holiday inn (and I'ts not within walking distance of anything other than a fiat garage).
However if budget isn't an issue £350 will see you at the goodwood hotel, no driving then in the morning which is handy, and evening entertainment on the Saturday.
It's an often asked question and difficult to answer without knowing your particular interests.
As Lynchie says, the top paddock is quieter but the tractor rides up there get busy quickly, so try and catch one early then walk back down the hill to the main event while your legs are still fresh.
I suspect your guests would enjoy the "Style et Luxe" on the Cartier lawn, always the most elegant cars there.
And yes, book a hotel asap!

The suggestion of getting a tractor to the top of the hill and slowly working your way down is a great one.
Visiting the GAS arena perhaps for the last show is definitely worthwhile too. You can have a sit down on the grass and enjoy all the antics there. Not sure how late you're staying but the start line tends to get fairly quiet towards the end of the day.
Have a great time!

Would be my first time ever too.... From Indonesia!
I want to ask something though. The Bonhams auction areas is it open to public? If you want to get it do you have to pay? Do they sell the catalogue?
And anyone here will be traveling from London? Looking if we can share ride or maybe just meet up and explore together. I should have gone with my ex but broke up before it happened so kinda going solo :P

Auction catalogue would normally be sold at the door to gain access
If you don't get a ride the train service is pretty good from Waterloo to Chichester with special buses for the last couple of miles
Thank you! Any idea how much the catalogue going to cost?If you don't get a ride the train service is pretty good from Waterloo to Chichester with special buses for the last couple of miles
I'm going to use official bus to Goodwood from London. Anyone here at PH used that too?

Another first timer here booked for the Sunday.
What time do people recommend getting there then? I see the ticket says open from 0700, is it worth getting there then.
Cheers
Absolutely. We are going Sat/Sun this year so will be up nice and early and out of the Hotel by 7am on sat morning. Last year we were a bit late and there was a motorcycle crash so didn't get through the gates till 11.What time do people recommend getting there then? I see the ticket says open from 0700, is it worth getting there then.
Cheers
Joining this thread as we're off to FoS for the first time on Saturday having done Revivial a number of times.
What is the dress code for FoS? Revival has always encouraged you to dress in smart period clothes. Is FoS similarly smart (although clearly not period), or more jeans-and-T-shirt with a pair of trainers?
Thanks.
