I have had a room booked at The Old Drum Petersfield for the Friday night of FOS for months. I have just had a phone call saying that they have had a system change that didn't go smoothly and my room is no longer available due to a double booking. Needless to say I am not best pleased rage Obviously trying to find anywhere with availability now is nigh on impossible so was wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions?
Thanks

They should be doing this for you if you had a confirmed booking and they have messed up.

They were most unhelpful, basically "We're sorry, these things happen but there's nothing we can do about it"
I made the booking through Booking.com who have been very helpful, they have found me alternative accommodation in Itchen Abbas which is twice as far away from Goodwood as Petersfield, not ideal but have taken this unless I can find somewhere nearer.

Well, while these things do happen, it is still a breach of contract. I'd be on the phone telling them that you will book a simialr stnadard room the same distance from Goodwood and expect them to pick up the difference. You will mitigate your loss by being sensible and not booking a suite at the Dorchester (obviously). Though I expect it does depend on the terms with Booking.com (who I generally find are good at solving issues). I think your contract is with the hotel (not with booking.com).

Anyway, good luck.

Booking.com have agreed to refund any difference in price and any other reasonable extra costs incurred so have been extremely helpful (although I don't think I can claim for an extra 1/2 hours worth of petrol lol!) My main issue is actually finding anywhere within the same distance of Goodwood at this late stage hence my posting on here just in case anyone knew of any hidden gems available that would not be advertised on the mainstream booking sites!

Freddie328, we may be able to help - we're in Arundel only ten minutes from Goodwood. We normally have a regular B&B guest for Goodwood events, but I don't think he's doing FOS this year. I'll speak to him in the morning when he's up ( he's with us for MM) and get back to you. We have safe off road parking if you're bringing something smart.

Thank you, that is most kind.
