Dress to impress?
Discussion
Having attended all but one revival from day one and knowing how and what the event is about , period I was suprised how many attendees had not followed the theme . Of course it's not compulsory to dress to the event but for us as a family it's a good part of the enjoyment , and I'm sure many a charity shop benefits from it .
On Sunday my partner and I were analysing the dress attempts. She agreed with me (her first time) that ladies' costume shouldn't look like Ascot or 'mother of the bride'. Of those that were in 40s and 50s garb most had failed to realise that a waistline is essential - if not naturally available, then as in period a foundation garment is essential! Aren't us blokes lucky - flat cap, collar and tie and you're away. Do remember what Mickey Flanagan has said about cravats, though!!
