GRRC forward parking

Pook Lane was apparently closed because of the accident this morning at the Kennels crossroads; the marshal there said initially that we couldn't get to the Kennels because it was closed, and then said you could try and see how you get on. There was another block on Kennel Hill, sending people into the VIP car park but they let us on into the Kennels after a bit of a chat
The one-way bit of Sheepwash lane has been closed since Thursday; today, we saw a white Audi VIP Shuttle go through, but someone had parked their car on the pavement on the down slope, making it very entertaining to watch the VIP wagon thread its way up onto the opposite kerb and try to avoid the bollards along there...

Pook Lane was closed to Residents Only this morning around 9am though cars were turning into it - as did I, heading for the Kennels. On the way home, I went to turn into the other end of Pook Lane (from Kennel Hill) but the marshal at the junction was having none of it - he said only residents with passes could do it.
I guess the residents of East Lavant around Fordwater Rd are up in arms about the volume and speed of traffic that comes streaming/steaming down there. I sympathise as I've often seen drivers behaving inappropriately for what is a single lane road in most places, but it does mean drivers heading to the Kennels and not the FoS car parks will get caught up in traffic trying to get in & out of a potentially muddy field...

I have just had it clarified on the GRRC forum that, as I thought, Pook Road, New Road and all the side roads in from Lavant have always been closed during the FoS and Revival, as evidenced by the "No Access To Goodwood" signs that are always there. The only difference this year is that the road closures have actually been enforced, and will be for future events.

Maybe a perk of the GRRC should be a pass?Gassing Station | Goodwood Events | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
