Thanks for the tip. Is it a long walk, to half of the hill point?

If you head to the to half of the hill you will get a good view... there are usually crowds down by the house, but you can still get half decent views where ever...
- - top half of the hill ...
There is so much to do that it is very hard to get around everything and you will wander off and burn time if its your first time around.
I would advise get there early, check out the schedule and work out which classes are a must for you to see (in my case all of them!).
They tend to go off in the morning and repeat some of the classes later in the day.
You can easily waste an hour or two browsing the various manufacturers and showing off your key fob to get your free bottles of water from whichever manufacturer your key fob represents! Equally you can spend hours looking around the stalls buying expensive art or wine racks made from fallen down varnished tree stumps and alike - all good stuff!
I tend to try and go on the Friday to face slightly less people and if you want to fit in the rally stage the cars are less beaten up than on the Saturday/Sunday.
Either way its a case of you will be desperate to get back next year and will likely be like me - caught between a rock and hard place as to what to see and what not to see - its hard to fit it all in.
I've found that on the Fridays in the mornings you can pretty much see the action from anywhere and in the afternoon its much busier, yet you can still manage to get trackside in most places and as there is so much to do people do come and go so it doesn't take long for a place to appear.
You will enjoy the day since it really is such an experience - and if you enjoy it the Revival is equally as brilliant - different yet brilliant none the less and as stated you will get trapped and will want to come back year after year.

I suppose with the high ticket items ... hot tubs / garden pagodas / table made out of unicorn horn... they only really need 10 or so sales over the weekend to make it worthwhile....
but i digress...
edit : I always think its odd theres no camera gear stands at events such as FOS... would probably make a fair bit considering...

I've been several times and never had issues viewing from where I've been standing; be it startline, by the house etc. I doubt you'll have a problem.
Even viewing the rally stage was fine. I'd certainly get your tickets quickly though as Saturday standard entry is already sold out. Hope you get the chance to go - I'm certain you'll enjoy it
When I lived in Sussex, I almost always bought Friday & Sunday tickets for the event. Friday I'd just take a very slow walk with the camera and look at pretty much everything that's there. Sunday, I'd catch late arrivals & then position myself trackside to catch all the action & see who was going to be crowned 'King of the Hill'.
Doing the same this year after a good many years away. This'll be my tenth year and looking forward to it once more.
