Looks like there might have been a very serious accident at Goodwood just now. The Can Am race has been red flagged and the commentators have gone very quiet.

I'm here. The ambulance has left but the car is still being recovered. Doesn't look good so fingers crossed.

Thanks. Hope the driver is OK. I knew from the reaction of the commentary team and the g=fact they weren't showing any footage of the scene that it might not be good.

The race is about to restart (shortened to 5 mins) but no word on the driver of #2.

ETA - race abandoned.

From this morning's first race, the horrible accident where the car flipped up off the track and ended up in the pedestrian walkway that goes under the track. How no-one was killed is extraordinary as the tunnel is normally jammed packed. Apparently one wheel ended up in the disabled viewing area.
The wreckage was covered with a tarpaulin and the tunnel closed for the day. Driver had just a broken collar bone .

Bloody hell. Was that one of the 1950s F1 cars?

Do we know which car in the Brooks Trophy it was? I'm guessing a Lotus or something else small.

Went straight on at the end of the Lavant pretty well straight in front of us. The driver actually got out of the car but must have deteriorated. It was a very very heavy impact.

Yeah, The car looked a in a real state when it was lifted onto the flatbed. The tyre wall must have taken a huge impact as that had to be rebuilt, hence the delay and the decision in the end to cancel that race.
Hopefully the driver makes a full recovery soon.

I was about 100 metres from this mornings accident as well. I heard a bang and saw a wheel on the circuit. One of those horrible moments, where you know something has happened, but don't know what.

As has been said, that tunnel has been heaving with people all weekend, so hopefully nobody was hurt. Again, hope the driver makes a full recovery soon.

I don't think I've been to a Goodwood event where there has been so many red flags and safety cars. Well done to all the emergency teams and Marshals.

Pale green judging by the bit of debris left in the hedge.

The lotus incident was shown on the live stream. He tagged a spinning car, flipped and then cartwheeled down the banking before disappearing out of sight. Can't believe it wasn't fatal (for him or a spectator).
