Does anyone know dates for the 2016 FOS? Was wondering if it clashes with Glastonbury? wink

Provisional dates used to come out in October although last year it wasn't until November. Even then they aren't confirmed until the end of the year and can change if there are last minute alterations to the FIA calendar (as in 2013).

Glastonbury clashes with the British GP, so no chance of that happening.

Bit of a nightmare this year with the provisional F1 calendar...

11-12 June: F1 Canada
18-19 June: Le Mans
25-26 June: F1 Britain
2-3 July: F1 Austria

So unless they are willing to drop a fairly significant chunk of exhibits/support/drivers the pre-British GP slot is a non-starter.

I'm not a betting man but put me down for the weekend of 7/8/9/10 July.

Guys, once dates are announced, what is the availability of tickets like? Do they sell out very quickly or is there a relatively safe time frame to get some?

2016 would be my first FOS, I'm hoping to do a 2-day weekend.

This year Saturday tickets sold out at the end of April and Sunday in May. It gets earlier each year but it's not yet like Carfest, which sells out in hours.

It's a bottle neck of events. If I remember correctly, the Le Mans Classic is on the weekend of July 8th, 9th and 10th. Something will have to give.

Would it be an issue if FOS run without current F1 drivers? The cars aren't current, the teams may have support staff (like Williams historic) and the event is always a sell out.

Looks like other dates are moving as the 2016 Silverstone Classic was 24-26 July (date now remove from their website) appears to be moving onwards a week.

The F1 representation was a bit weak this year... i'm not bothered about the star drivers tbh... wouldn't be surprised if they held it on a GP weekend (non Brit GP) maybe the Austria GP date ?? if theres a massive schedule conflict with other events... they announced some WTCC thing this week, so maybe thats to cover the F1 "gap" of headline things...

It was weak but I didn't mind I think a lot of people were disappointed by the lack of showboating from the F1 teams this year. Plus you have a good representation of slightly older privateer cars.

As the membership renewals usually go live on November 1st I would expect an announcement regarding the 2016 FOS at the same time.

The British GP is now on the 10th July, with the Austrian race on 3rd July. I wonder if Goodwood will go for the 17th, but that's only 10 days before Glorious Goodwood or go back to a late June date

11-12 June: F1 Canada
18-19 June: Le Mans / F1 Azerbaijan
2-3 July: F1 Austria
9-10 July: F1 Britain

So, weekend of June 26th?

Also puts a dampener on any F1 drivers competing in Le Mans.

I would imagine the closer they can get to other Goodwood events the better, saves moving all the infrastructure too far!
