Goodwood Bloodhound Jaguar crash
Discussion
Had a quick look around, no one seems to have mentioned it. Quite dramatic.

Hopefully with no corners on the Hakskeen Pan they'll have a lot less drama in the big car!

We were sitting in the Molcomb grandstand and you could see that Andy Green had lost it as he came over the crest and then straight on to the grass. The marshals were moving backwards at this point. It hit so hard that it not only went through the hay bales, but broke most of the thick wooden stakes that support the last line and protect people. It even moved the TV tower, which is why the cameraman had to see the doctor.
Having said that the man himself was very cool, getting out of the car, putting his jacket on and then taking time to talk to the various officials - not looking as though he has just had a 100mph+ crash. Must be the fighter pilot in the man.
Regards,
Ed

Sounds about right. Break something expensive, sit back and let the skilled folk fix it. Nailed on pilot. He wasn't the only one to do the same. There was a Lamborghini and a Toyota NASCAR truck that I saw come off, and I think there was a Mazda too but I was elsewhere when that happened. The straw bale carrier fork truck bloke almost didn't have to leave his cab for while!

Considering pretty much every second of the event was filmed and there were tens of thousands of people in attendance the crashes are very low key in their presence on the web. Quite impressive, really.
I don't know how Goodwood do it but certainly I've seen videos of crashes a few days later they have gone from YouTube. Maybe they offer them event tickets in exchange. ecsrobin said:

It could be because Goodwood is not attended by the types who film everything on their mobiles and take pleasure in seeing a car crash before getting it on Youtube as quick as possible.aka_kerrly said:

Hmm the camera man on the staging did well to hold his cool however in the first clip look at the photographer who staggers out from between the camera tower and the bales. Talk about brown pant moment.
He did get seen by the medical team after as the camera had thwacked him in the head. They also took down that podium overnight, as it was unsafe after the jag moved it back about 1ft. Oh and it broke the camera too. I was talking to him on the photographers stand at molecombe Friday afternoon and he was saying the big ones always happen in front of him, Kubicas crash in Canada, Webber in Spain both in front of him.
We pointed out that hardly made us feel safe up on the stand next to him...
It was surprising that nobody was badly hurt. I was a few yards farther up the course standing with a trauma specialist from a London hospital, and he shot off immediately it happened to see if he could help, and came back a few minutes later saying how well the bales had protected everyone. After a while we got used to the cars going straight on into the bales...
Was stood in the small crowd of people behind the marshalls, directly infront of Mr Green when he slammed into the bales. Needless to say, from some of the vids, you'll see we all lunged to the sides quite quickly. The cameraman's booth was removed from underneath him, and the TV camera was in two pieces after the impact.
We'd only just arrived 2 minutes before hand (having heard the FXX K etc we ran over!), not a bad start to the day.

Fast Jaguars have been crashing there for years!
I remember seeing Andy Wallace doing this in 1994 or 1995.
