Reccomend a B+B, Pub/Hotel 1hour drive from goodwood??

Hi
We've got tickets for Sunday,I don't want to drive from north Wales to goodwood and back in one day ( did it once, never again).
So, we would like to travel down on sat afternoon and stop somewhere near to goodwood,up to an hour away would be fine, as we know all the local places willl be booked solid or silly money,we don't mind getting up at the crack of sparrows and being there for gates open time.
Ideally. I'd like a cheap simple place within walking distance of a proper pub. :-)
It's either that or camping, which is a last resort.

I would suggest checking Basingstoke, Winchester, hamble.

Contact the Snoozebox hotel, based at the racecourse, they have a couple of rooms available, you can park your car and get the free shuttle bus straight to the gate. Mention Sonia Wilson, her staff will assist you. [e-mail]
