Am I mad to think about Friday only driving from Scotland?

I've been to FOS 3 times before (97/99/2005) but each time attended both Sat and Sun.
I'm off work the Monday to Friday week of Goodwood so could conceivably drive down on Thursday evening, stay in a Travel inn etc within 60/70 miles of Goodwood, enjoy the Friday and drive halfway back on Friday night stopping overnight on the way.

Question is;
is Friday worth the trouble?
Do the F1 cars run on Friday?
I assume the style et Luxe concours cars etc are on display on Friday?

why not Thursday AND friday ?? - more worthwhile....

I looked at driving down then decided to fly instead. Seems a lot of driving for the one day? Fly in stay the night somewhere then rent a car in the morning?

I'm flying down Friday meeting up with a friend for drink then we'll head along Saturday probably head out Saturday night then fly back up Sunday. It's my first time going so didn't want to have to worry or bother about the long journeys either end.

everything is the same on Friday (apart from no shoot out), except maybe less celeb' drivers.
May also be a little bit quieter, as not sold out yet.

Thanks for the replies, good to know the F1 cars run on Friday. I don't fancy the Thursday really, can't make up my mind whether it's worth the hassle.
