Weekends are stupidly busy, as to be expected - 2013 I did Friday only which was busy but still good going but you can't see it all in one day. Last year was Fri/Sat which gave plenty of time to see everything and a leisurely drive back home on Sunday via a pitstop and some lunch in Oxford too.

I don't know if anyone's done FOS in the Goodwood forum wink

I see your in Scotland so if your travelling that far I'd suggest doing a couple of days if you can. Sunday is the shootout where the cars will be doing their quickest runs. Saturday and Sunday will be the majority of star drivers.

It will be busy the roads will get gridlocked so plan to do 7-7 each day. And prepare for a lot of walking the site is big from car park all the way to the top paddock for the rally cars is probably around 2+ miles up a hill. Without deviating for all the paddocks. And don't bother cleaning the car if driving as it will get covered in dust in the car park.

Go for all 3 days if you want to see everything.

I used to get a free ticket on Friday and then go Sunday.
Friday used to be great - no one was there!

Get there at 7 - 7.30 to avoid the traffic queues.
Don't complain when you tried to get in at 10am and it took 2 hours to park!

Leave at 6pm and you'll avoid the queues.

I've got Friday ticket but fancy camping Friday night is it too late now?

Where is the best place to camp - would be wanting to look at walking distance ideally

I only need 1 night for 1 person in a tent I'd erect.

We've been going on Friday for the past couple of years but its still very busy with heavy traffic in and out. Still an excellent day but don't expect to get round everything! smile

Is it advisable to get the grandstand passes? They are only available for Sunday but I can still get a general admission ticket for Saturday without the grandstand access.

No its more fun wandering around seeing things from different places and being in the paddocks when cars go in and out.
If you can, I would go on Thurs and then other days, fairly quiet to suss the place out and just get your bearings.

I'm going for all 4 days again this year

Thursday - my 'orientation' day to get to know where everything is that I want to see, and sometimes catch up with some of the guys setting up their old cars

Friday - usually you can find me in the stalls looking around for bargains (that are few and far between nowadays, not like a few years ago) and catching up with some old friends

Saturday - going with 4 adults and 4 children, so the days is for them, looking at things from an under 10's viewpoint smile

Sunday - my selfish day, as I usually just camp out round my favourite cars to get some alternate angle snaps and chat to the owners / drivers / mechanics

Can anyone let me know what the Moving Moter show is like on the Thursday?

I get the concept of the moving motor show but I can't find anywhere that tells me if there are any features missing of the FOS fri-sun that you miss out on (except for the stars obviously)???

Whats the advice... cheaper tickets for thursday or if the friday worth the extra?

Thursday is still good but it's not a full day. Most of the Motorsport stuff isn't there so it's really just the motorshow. I still enjoyed it when I went and you can usually get free tickets online. Just don't go expecting the full FOS experience!

All the trade stands will be setup but all the cars for the weekend will be arriving and setting up so don't expect any fast runs up the hill. GAS will be running though.

Thurs and Fri is the answer!!
Thurs is good for wandering around the paddocks and stands before they are too busy
