The time it took to post this, you could have done a quick Google to see that Qatar has sponsored Glorious Goodwood for the next 10 years and will now be called "Qatar Goodwood Festival"

I think many of us Goodwood regulars will still call it Glorious Goodwood.

Yes quite. I hadn't realised until this week that the "glorious" epithet had even become an official name.

"Glorious Goodwood" or "glorious Goodwood", it's much the same.

Precisely Stephanie, but it is now to be called the "Qatar Goodwood Festival".

Growing up in the area I only really remember the summer meeting being referred to locally as "Goodwood week", I thought of "glorious Goodwood" as a generic term. However I see the BBC were listing their coverage as "Glorious Goodwood" in the Radio Times as early as 1960 so it's clearly been the official name for quite a while. You live and learn.

But yes, only the summer horse racing is ever "glorious". Perhaps we should come up with our own epithets for the motor events?

slightly OT perhaps, but also a lot of money seems to have been ploughed into the new GRRC branding and website, with its new columnists / reviews and what not.. make you wonder where all the money to do this has come from and what the end game is for it ? to sell FOS and Revival tickets ? (i think not) I have a feeling theres a partnership with haymarket somewhere along the line...

Oh please do forgive me. What with this being a petrolhead forum I thought we were talking about the FoS not the horsey week.
