Hints and tips for FOS
Discussion
So what tips can those of us who went today offer others going over the weekend?
From me:
Volvo have a water chiller on the stand which you can use for free.
SkyTV stall near the F1 paddock free lanyard and earplugs.
Redbull in the paddock free redbull bulletin magazine.
Audi usual bag with post it notes
£1.40 telegraph with bag. Dad went to one of the other telegraph stalls and got some shades thrown in.
£1 Motorsport magazine current issue, back issue and pen.
That's all I can remember for now.

AA were giving away free ice cream and bottled water. From me:

Set off early... early.... EARLY!!!
I set off at 8 from herts. It took me 3 hrs to get 5miles away from goodwood and was then stuck in the queue moving very very very slowly. I ended up going home.
Ditto took 4 hours. After stopping about 5 miles out we took a slight detour and got in within 10 minutes. On the way back (left at 6) only took 2 hours. My advice would be go down the A3, ignore the AA signs, go through the Hindhead tunnel (which is a must anyway) and keep going til you hit Petersfield, then go via South Harting, Chilgrove, East Lavant before heading to the motor racing circuit and then at the final roundabout turn left to the house not right to the track. Free cocktails in frozen ice shots glass on mx5 display. Free cocktial from infinity bar. Free photo at top of ford stand, and one if you went down the slide.
Cartier car show has some really nice cars. Bets bit was watching the old f1 and indy cars getting tuned up.
coming in from kent via Horsham and A27 was OK ish at 9\10 am.

Thanks for that, I picked mine up yesterday. Quite a hefty bag full for a pound, especially as the current edition is a 90th anniversary special. Great value but I began to wish I'd got it a bit later in the day!£1 Motorsport magazine current issue, back issue and pen.
No free ice lollies on the Ford stand this year but the new slide down was fun.

I normally do pretty well leaving my house at 4:30 (West Wiltshire, about 2hrs away), did the same yesterday, was there and parked by 6:25 with no traffic whatsoever, Car Park A and was right at the front nearest the entrance.
Breezed around the moving motorshow section, paddocks and trade areas between 7-9 with very, very little resistance in terms of crowds. Again this is normally the case, but it was remarkably quiet this year.
In previous years early arrival has meant display cars still arriving, lots under cover etc (plus supercars used to go first up the hill, so that paddock used to be nearly empty first thing), but since Thursdays started it's been near enough fully 'live' from the off, only a couple of cars undercover or being polished. This year was the quietest I've known for a good 5 years or more.
I then headed to the top most section of public hill viewing, literally nobody else there at all for a while. Started getting a little busier by 11:30ish, but even when the contemporary F1 stuff was on the hill there was none of the usual surge of people.
I then worked my way down the hill on the house side, which was completely dead in terms of spectators.
If you can get there early it's so worthwhile, the busy event that some describe is essentially unrecognisable to me

I'm going tomorrow for the first time in a couple of years. I've very kindly been given a hospitality package with a card lapel badge (on a cord) to the Blackrock supporters enclosure. I also have an enamel lapel tag on a cord like this...
Does this allow access to any other areas, or is it just a nice souvenir?
Thanks
