I am going to the Goodwood Festival of Speed for the first time on both Saturday and Sunday, and i wanted to ask a quick question regarding some clips in this video!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQYHjFa6UbU

I have seen the same thing in loads of Goodwood videos on YouTube; at the very start of the video the supercars can be seen in convoy entering a point where they need to turn around, and so drifting/powersliding around so that they can head back the way they came.

When i'm at Goodwood i was thinking about making a little movie, and so i thought if i could catch a couple of clips showing this it would provide some good additional content for the video! biggrin

Will the activity seen in the video be happening all over the weekend or does it only happen on the Thursday when the Moving Motor Show is held? And also, where about's in the Goodwood grounds is this area located? I have never been to the Goodwood FOS before and so i will be a bit unsure as to where i am heading!

Thanks! smile

That's up the top of the hill. A few people do burnouts etc up there

Correct that's down at the start line. Near the gate to the road. I don't think the public are allowed down there anymore. Certainly when I started going to FOS 20 years ago that's the main place we used to watch when it was just a bit of rope keeping you back.

That's a shame, as you say you could go there several years ago. Mind you I'm going Thursday so I don't think there'll be much going on down there...

Thanks for the quick responses! If that area is closed then that will be a bit disappointing, but i'm sure there will be enough action on the track to fill the video! I might head down that way though just to ensure that it is indeed closed, but i won't get my hopes up. smile

This viewing area is still open to the public . The start turn around point and old exit to carpark A.
it has kind of got forgotten by most people because the exit/entrance to car park A is via the motorshow (so this exit is for the camp site and hotel now)

you can still view from this area but goodwood have moved the ticket gate close to the side of the turn around point (and also added straw bales to the banked area too this year !!rolleyes ) so the viewing area is a lot smaller and you have to 'check out' via the gate and view from the outside .

To be honest Goodwood or 'safety types' seem hellbent on banning 'donuts' and 'burnouts' all over now and apart from the rally drivers (the best ones for donuts here!) the only other cars to 'spin turn' are some F1 cars and other race cars because they have to! (limited turn area) or the odd cheeky supercar driver!
