FOS best places for photos
Discussion
To be honest with you, its not an event I do photos at.
I find that you have to be close to the front and youre limited as to what you can shoot and how.
I dont like standing in one spot with the same photo over and over, and theres not too many spots with really interesting (and different) backgrounds to shoot.
Id maybe suggest opposite the House for the background of the House and Display, but personally this is one weekend I leave the camera at home.

just taking a look at the event map and ive noticed a granstand near the flint wall, is that new? If so it appears the huge bank that everyone used to watch from has suddenly reduced in size by a fair bit.
Yeh, I heard about this too.. Perhaps they cleared a few of the trees away up there ?? Considering the ratio of spectators to track length must be one of the worst in world motorsport, I always have a great time taking photos at FoS.
It's barely worth mentioning specific points as subtle things change every year, but in short if you're happy to head up to at least the flint wall, and explore both sides of the climb, you won't fail to miss loads of spots. One tip is to shoot the cars coming back down, safety is geared towards protecting cars/spectators going up, so there are gaps and interesting angles to get them coming back down, also people tend to move between sessions, so spaces open up even in busy areas at those times.
This is a favourite of mine, only at 270mm so nothing crazy long (coming back down on the 'quiet' side, about a third of the way down iirc)

But this is your more common garden variety FoS shot anywhere beyond the flint wall, on either side of the climb, 140mm so again not needing an extreme focal length...
