26th June.....a few questions.....
Discussion
Hiya
Myself and partner have won tickets through the AA to go to the first day of the festival of speed which is brilliant as we have never been before
Now having never been before i've a couple of questions:
1. Is there a lot on on the first day? Like the hill climbing events, etc?
2. On the website it says about pre=ordering a programme that you pick up at the festival? Any ideas where on their website you can do this and how much are they?
3. Whats the price of any extra's like? i.e test drives, food, etc?
Sorry if there really simple questions but i'm really excited to go

26th isn't the Festival proper but there'll still be plenty to see and do.Myself and partner have won tickets through the AA to go to the first day of the festival of speed which is brilliant as we have never been before

Hope so, as im pretty excited to be going!
Did initially look at going on the saturday when tickets were initially released but they seemd so expensive Hopefully It will be a good experience going on the Friday
Friday is the 27th not the 26th. Friday is just as good as Saturday or Sunday depending on your personal favourites. Did initially look at going on the saturday when tickets were initially released but they seemd so expensive Hopefully It will be a good experience going on the Friday

If OP has tickets for 26th which appears to be the Thursday.Isn't that the "Moving Motorshow" day which is almost a totally different event entirely, like
test drives in modern cars.
I've never actually been to FOS but if the above is true OP could be in for disappointment.
There'll be nothing going up the hill bar the cars being test driven by MMS punters. Rally section will be closed. There will be some cars arriving and stands setting up etc but prepare yourself for a day where a lot of stuff just won't be there or will still be under covers I'm afraid.

really? aww thats a shame then, as i said i won the tickets so the cost to me will be just the petrol driving down so if its not too good its not a big loss as I have most of my family down in littlehampton so wont be a total loss of a day if it turns out a little underwhelming
i'm sure it won't be underwhelming if you have never been before.. even the thursday is pretty good .. Lynchie999 said:

Hope so If i find the Thursday good fun then i "may" fork out for the ticket prices for the Saturday/Sunday next yearOut of curiosity is there any Live streams of all the events at all or any youtube official videos that you can watch the hillclimbing events?

I have attended the FOS every year since 1997, originally for just one day in the early days but since it has gradually grown in size I now stay for all 4 days, without doubt this is the best motorsport and automotive event on earth. As far as Thursday is concerned, 90% of the vehicles will be there but they will not run, if you get there early on Thursday then this is an ideal opportunity to take photos without too many punters obstructing. The rally stage should be open with a few cars running, they tend to give journalists and celebs a blast around the rally stage on the Thursday. Also the GAS show runs on the Thursday, worth a look, very spectacular! All the trade stands will also be open. Not many drivers to meet though. I reckon if you've never been before and you only attend the Thursday, you'll want to attend more days next year.

The Official YouTube channel is youtube.com/user/GoodwoodTV. There was a live stream last year on the now defunct fortyonesix site ... keep an eye on goodwood.com this year for it. ~iw
As an alternative view I almost exclusively only go on the Thursday now. The hill climb I find a bit dull and 90% of the displays are there and uncovered along with all the trade stands. It's my favourite day.
Don't bother with the programme. The food stands are excellent, freshly cooked pizza for £7 for example or a Goodwood burger for about £5-6. Not cheap but very good.

FYI pretty much all of this is untrue ThunderSpook said:

FYI pretty much all of this is untrue I go all 4 days Thursdays are great to wander about the pits even if all the cars are not there but loads to see. The gas show is awesome and not as crowded as the other days. Last year the rally stage was open also. Good day to look around merchandise area and if you want really good breakfast the dw caterers are great
