I wouldn't waste money on Grandstand unless you plan to be there for 2 or 3 days as there is to much to see and do to be stuck in a seat, It takes easy a full day to just walk round taking in all there is to see. And I've been a few times over the years. The earlier comment about taking an Audi key is very right and good position to spent an hour.
I am going all 4 days what is the opinion on a roving grandstand ticket for the sunday. I want to get into a grandstand opposite the house i usually perch down as soon as i get there on the sundaymorning but am a bit fed up with photographers getting in the way, and two alfa employees decied to try and move my seat last year as i was standing at the time, they saw their mistake very quickly!

No offence but I'd move your seat as well if it's stopping me getting a good view. You see it happening more and more in front of the house 1 person guarding a families worth of seats whilst they go and browse the other attractions. I just rearrange them so I can get a good spot. And then listen to granny get a grilling when they come back to their seats with people in front of them. It happens more and more at airshows and more of them now don't allow you to have chairs and tents along the fence line they allow you to setup along a line a bit further back, certainly a good idea.
So yes get a roving grandstand.
Well, we're off next week on Friday and I'm now getting excited. The Mrs has secured entry to the BMW hospitality area. Nice work there.
But can anyone tell me how good/bad it is travelling there by car? We can get a train easily enough but I'd prefer to drive if we can. However if getting in and out is like Silverstone then I may think again.
I did look through the various Goodwood threads here, but all seemed to be about much more interesting subjects like what's there, as opposed to the boring stuff I'm after such as: how bad are the roads nearby and the parking situation!
Many thanks.

Parking is fine, the car parks are huge.
Regarding traffic, if you get there by 7:30/8:00am then it'll be fine getting in. Getting out can be a bit more of a problem unless you leave a bit later in the evening. We usually leave around 7pm and normally drive more or less straight out.
Leave when everybody else is leaving around 5pm ish and you can sit in traffic for a while.
Hope you enjoy the event .
