A guy at work was talking about a new event taking place between the FOS and the Revival this year, something to do with historic F1. Cannot see anyting on the site... was he correct?

The 72nd Member's Meeting is the only new event I know of at Goodwood this year.

It's before the FoS but it does include demonstration laps from historic (turbo-era) Formula One cars so he could mean this event and may have just mixed his dates up.

I got an 'invitation' but it just came as a normal email, I've never been to goodwood so i doubt its anything overly exclusive.

ETA - its £75 a ticket.

It was initially open only to the GRRC members but they didn't buy enough tickets for Goodwood to break even so they've now opened it up to the peasants ( wink ).

If you haven't been invited in an email there are codes on the Goodwood Facebook pages allowing the great unwashed general public to purchase tickets.

One wonders if the plebs will be turned away if they turn up inappropriately dressed

Hey if wasnt for the "plebs" maybe the meeting would cancelled!
Its all very well labelling people on a website. The act of a coward!

No sir , not stuck up
just thought you would react that way!!
which you did

If the website and description of the event request appropriate attire, then I think you would be stupid to disregard the information and turn up inappropriately dressed
I ve seen many people turned away from the paddock at the revival for not wearing a tie.
the tickets clearly state a tie must be worn
If know the rules before the game begins its hard to change them after the game has kicked off

By insinuating I'm a "pleb" due to the fact I'm a member of the public and not the GRRC, too right I reacted the way that I did !

Come on gents, this is just not right to be fighting in public. frown

I am a GRRC member and have never liked getting dressed up except for work when I wear a suite (boiler suite) as I would look silly fitting tyres in a shirt, tie and plus fours. smile

I myself like the smart dress code for some of these meetings at Goodwood and having been to many over the years in shorts and tee shirt and feeling a tad out of place always chuck on a shirt and tie.

I do think it's a hard one to police if others arrive not dressed right, I don't mind if others go as they please (no mankini's please), I for one am going to look at all the fantastic cars and hope the weather is going to be kind to us all, I will add that if the weather is foul I will be in an all in one suite that will keep me warm and comfortable, with my tie of course.

Looking forward to all the amazing cars and not the boxing match ! rolleyes
