Absolutely - a massive bonus for those who weren't there.

Being trapped on the pedestrian footbridge with the st Trinnians lacrosse team, also being hooted at by a Gt40 in the pits as I was standing in the way

7pm Saturday night, wandering around the GT40s chatting with a few other chaps. Whole place pretty empty. Sun not long from setting in the distance, and a spitfire overhead doing loops. Absolutely fantastic.

St Mary's Trophy race on the Saturday.
The Canbera.
Spitfire display on Sunday at 2.30pm.
Actually making the effort to walk the tax free car park on Sunday- some lovely and unusual cars in there.
As ever, listening to Tony Smiths 1960 Ferrari 246 Dino F1 on full song down the Lavant straight.
Not having to listen to Lady March singing.
The RAC TT race- in the wet again but some brilliant driving which made the fact that I got soaked through completely worth it!

Roll on next year!

Watching Brack qualify the GT40 in the damp, not on YouTube but a few feet from the circuit. biggrin
Both parts of the St Mary's Trophy: Galaxies verses beautiful Alfa versus Minis versus Lotus Cortinas. cloud9
Drivers drifting the cars around Lavant, and Madgewick, and St Marys and .... driving
The period scrambling which took me back to my youth and Saturday afternoon TV (or holiday treats).
Seeing 25+ GT40s on track at the same time, racing.
The TT Celebration race for start-to-finish excitement. thumbup

Thoroughly enjoyed my Goodwood weekend despite the inclement weather. There were plenty of good bits and the racing on Saturday was often very close but for me the highlight was the RAC Celebration Race on Sunday. Seeing Simon Hadfield slice his way through the field in Wolfgang Friedrichs' Aston Martin DP212 was wonderful. So often the big banger Cobras win this race and it was so refreshing to see the Aston cruising past them in such appalling rain! Being Pistonheads I suppose one should mention Chris Harris who was leading at one point but Hadfield and the Aston had the measure of Lister Jag at the end biglaugh

This is always my favourite. The juxtaposition of the minis having to travel probably 5 car lengths to pass those big yanks their engines wailing, and then the colossal noise of the big Fords, makes the hair stand on end.

Other good points, seeing the folks dressed up (military or not), there was a gang of RAF types in Gasoline Alley resting against the Peterbilt that looked so authentic I almost felt I was really back in the day.

And then randomly bumping in to old friends (chances of that?) and chatting to new found PH'ers - see you all on 9th November biggrin

Besides many of the things mentioned above (Particularly the 2:30pm Sunday Spitfire display!), both the Barry Sheene races were great fun.

Watching Gary Johnson slice through the pack on the gorgeous MV was great in the first race and then the epic battle between Mick Grant and Michael Rutter in the second. MV vs Manx, the perfect combination! cool

As seen from the Woodcote stand....without doubt. Stippler gave us the drive of the weekend in that lovely little Alfa. Even the sight of it sandwiched between those two Galaxies on Sunday's Part 2 grid was worth the admission price!

100% agree.

Just fabulous racing. I watched it with my son (12) right by the chicane (infield) and it was amazing. smile

I thought Brack / Kristensen in the Daytona Cobra 2011 was the only Cobra win in the TT? Usually a Lightweight E-Type affair. For years it barely seemed worth the others turning up as they all knew Juan Barazi and Michael Vergers would walk it...

As for my magic moments:

Al Buncombe's awe-inspiring drive in the C-Type on Friday night. His speed through magic made the rest look amateur; even Sam Hancock.

TK in the Galaxie in quali on Friday. He was appearing broadside through St Mary's every lap. His ability to manage his brakes and tyres over the course of the race on Saturday really showed his class though.

That special moment when Middlehurst made it a hat-trick in the Glover Trophy. Clark's car, car's mechanic, Clark's team and in the 50th anniversary year of Clark's first title. Wonderful.

Hadfield's command of the TT Celebration. Amazing feel-good moment and proved just how good he really is.

The Ford GT Mk4. Never seen one race and may not do again.

The Lotus 43 in the Clark parade. Wanted to see one for years and doubted I ever would.

Etc. etc. etc.

Monkey's overtaking and then lurid moment at Woodcote.... then making the same move next lap and holding it together to go into the lead. Best moment.

My apologies. I went back for a look through past TT winners. Three Cobra wins - two for Daytonas and one not. Statistically, if you want to win the TT you need a Lightweight E-Type.

In recent years, yes. I suspect that Lanzante would probably be upset if he knew everyone attributed his hard work to Red Bull though! Actually, a couple of years ago Newey ran in Friday practice with a Red Bull logo on the side before being asked to remove it for Saturday / Sunday. Must see if I can dig out a photo of it with the Bull in place; I'm sure I have one in my archive.
