Take my classic or not
Discussion
I had planned to drive my Rolls Royce Silver Shadow down from Belgium to the Revival.
However, as rain has been predicted throughout almost the entire weekend, I'm having my doubts.
It's body has just been restored and over the last 4 years it hasn't been driven much, so I'm not sure that a rainsoaked 550 miles is the best way to go.
Any opinions (apart from telling me I'm a wuss if I don't do it) ?

Cruising into the almost-up-to-the-front-gate classic car park, compared to being a mile away over the fields with your modern more than compensates for having to give the Roller a good cean afterwards. You can also pop back more easily to get your dry socks if it does rain
If you don't use your classic for the best classic event in the world when are you going to use it, it won't rust away becasue of 1 wet weekend!

It depends what gives you pleasure.....
I am not taking mine and will be in the Range Rover instead. The thought of driving around a possibly muddy field doesn't butter my muffin, I'd rather save the car for sunny days.
But each to their own.
You'll have to watch the forecast closely and take a view at the last minute.

You think you've got problems, the roof on my Elan doesn't work so I'm driving over there sans roof. I also don't have any period looking waterproofs so rather than look like I haven't made the effort I'm going to get very wet.
Hmmm, maybe I should have posted that in the 'First World Problems' thread.

Ditto for my Morgan, the hood shrunk to the point where it no longer fits a few years ago. I'll try and leave early enough to not get stuck in traffic ... you don't get wet while you're moving.ecurie said:

I did consider this momentarily but as I drove the Aston through every kind of weather earlier this year on tour to the Italian Lakes I am sure a little rain won't hurt it. However, as rain has been predicted throughout almost the entire weekend, I'm having my doubts...

I was doing fine last year keeping it moving until I got to the road leading in to the car park and it all ground to a halt. Looked like a right prat, a wet one.Leaving at six on Saturday from Brighton, that should do it.
