Another Revival outfit assistance request
Discussion
Have just been given some tickets for this years Goodwood Revival and have been trying to come up with an outfit idea.
Being somewhat follicly challenged I have been able to rule out going as a rocker/greaser, much to the better halves disappointment (she wanted to go in Rock and Roll garb) and seem to have left it too late to hire a military uniform.
I've been trawling the charity shops and eBay for a tweed jacket but did wonder if a navy blue 2 button pinstripe suit would be fitting if accessorized with black leather cap shoes, tie and a trilby.
The other idea was the simple white overalls and flat cap but wanted to try and look a bit smarter as there may be a chance to get into the paddock too as tickets are coming from someone racing over the weekend.

Just piggy backing off this thread, I had a query.
My Dad and I plan to go on our old bikes and wanted to see if we would get into the (open) paddocks dressed in period biker/rocker gear? Or are we safer going down the tweed and flat caps look?
I know the 'special' paddocks are closed to all but GRRC members, I mean the general ones. We don't want to miss out!
Thanks

I guess it depends on your age what suits you best. I tend to go for the 50s look. Whatever you do, if you're in your 50s don't try to do the 'hippy look', you know long wig, flared jeans and a tie-dyed kaftan. You'll just look an idiot! To be honest it's really easy for blokes, chinos, brogues, tweed jacket or blazer and a flat cap, trilby or panama. Add one of your dad's ties and it's job done.

I ask as I have a fantastic 70's jungle suit (in dark blue), but that's a bit too late isn't it?!
Yeah it's the tweed blazer I'm struggling with really (wanting to do it right, but not spend too much - as I'm only a 36" chest, so it's not easy to find!)
If you're anywhere near Guildford give the costume department at the Yvonne Arnauld a call. They hire costumes at a reasonable rate (I was quoted £20 per full outfit) and had loads of tweed jackets and military gear when I went for a look around the other day. I'm sure there were lots of smaller outfits and jackets as I had the opposite problem at 6'2" with a 44" chest, most of the ones I tried on left me looking like Lurch.Yeah it's the tweed blazer I'm struggling with really (wanting to do it right, but not spend too much - as I'm only a 36" chest, so it's not easy to find!)
Otherwise, That Vintage Shop in Kingston had quite a few Harris tweed jackets in stock for £29 each as did the other antique shop on the Old London Road.
Just to follow up , if anyone is serious about getting into theme for next year I stumbled on this , there are some people who take this retro thing very seriously indeed
