Just seen that Tony Gaze has died - came up with the idea of racing at Goodwood I believe.

These chaps certainly led full lives didnt they! I've just read his obituary, flying Sptifires with Douglas Bader, racing Ferraris and Astons the stuff of Boy's Own books... RIP

I knew that he was a racing driver - and a spitfire pilot, but didn't know about the Goodwood connection. I've just bought his biography on ebay, as I'd love to learn more about him. RIP Tony Gaze.

a lovely old boy. He actually made it to the Revival Cricket Match a couple of years ago from Australia. Was lucky enough to get a shot printed of him talking to Lord March.

Quite a strong link to Goodwood, I believe his brother was a pilot there during war and unfortunately I think he was killed, TG had a strong influence in original Goodwood and had very strong links to owners, a brave man of his time.

That's a very interesting biography, what a great man.R.I.P.

I'd wondered for some time exactly who Tony Gaze was as the Goodwood Road Racing Club is housed in "The Tony Gaze Building".
