Who is going to goodwood?
I am going to the moving motor show for the first time, having previously gone to the festival of speed proper once before.
What can I expect? I got the tickets for free so I'm unsure if it'll be anywhere near as good as the weekend.
Is it current models only displayed by manufacturers, or anything older?

There's a whole Goodwood Events forum here:

Probably give you a good idea.

Pretty much the whole show is set up. Get there early, book in for a few drives up the hill, its worth it!!
Then its purely wonder round, see everything, Peugeot have a waverider competition set up, should be fun. Its a tester day, making sure everything works, so all the stands are open!

Is it easy to get test drives/rides on the Thursday? The Goodwood site doesn't give much detail.
They get booked up very quickly. And it's not quite 'hello mate can I have the keys to that car - of course sir, here you go - you do have to show an interest in the vehicle concerned.
Moving Motors is good as it gives the public the rare opportunity of driving up the hill - relatively fast if you get a quick car & have some talent.
However don't drive like a tt because the hill can bite - it looks easy but it isn't.
Just wait until you see the flint wall approaching you for the first time........
Not only do you get to drive up the hill, assuming you are there early enough to book a drive, but you also get to look around the FoS itself with fewer people than on Friday, Saturday & Sunday although not all of the stands will be open & not all of the cars will be in display.
However if you know where to look & if you are lucky you can see some of the star cars parked up around the site prior to being put in display.
It's a good day & at sometime during the day demo runs of the some of the race cars are sometimes out in to wet people's appetite.
There is nothing not too like about the FoS apart from the huge amount of people & the odd twunt who thinks that because he has a bigger telephoto lens than you he can save his way to the front of the crowds!!!!!!
Assuming the weather stays like it is then it will be a great weekend.

Itinerary http://www.goodwood.co.uk/festival-of-speed/event-...
do the manufacture demos spend most of the day off stand on demos ? for argument sake the window from 7-9 being the best time to view them ?
