Goodwood Festival of Speed

I've won some tickets for the above event, they are for the Thursday. Looking at the website it seems Thursday is more a traditional motor show rather than a racing day. The tickets I have got were a freebie, but it will involve taking time off work and a fair bit of travelling.
I have always wanted to go to the GFoS but for some reason this Thursday event doesn't fill me with excitement, has anyone been on a Thursday, what was it like? Anyone going on Thursday this week, what are you expecting?

I was about to post the same question, I am spectator marshalling fri-sun, so won't really get a chance to look around, but was happily also given a ticket for Thursday, so this will be my day to see stuff. I know the rally stage is open, but will the runs up the hill be limited to customer runs in manufacturers cars?
Runs up the hill will only be people test driving production cars but all the exhibits from the manufacturers are certainly worth the trip, I believe the rally stage is open for practice throughout the day, you can pay to go in a bowler wildcat/nemesis and look round the bonhams auction tent. You'll also find some cars being rolled out into the pits or if your lucky getting fired up and worked on.

the thursday is pretty quiet and a good day to wonder round and look at whats going on in the paddocks etc. Goodwood is so much more than the cars going up the hill and you will have a brilliant day, especially if you can blag a drive up the hill
Not been for a few years, and never on the Thu...How bad is the traffic likely to be around Chichester/Goodwood/A27 if I aimed to arrive for say 10am and leave by 3pm? (coming and returning to Southampton area)
Any hints or tips?
Thanks! Dan
