I'm from Canada and I'm going to the FoS for the first time with a group of slot racing friends from Canada and the US. We CAN'T WAIT to get there, we've rented a house in Selsey, south of Chichester.

We'll be getting to Goodwood from the south, obviously. We were wondering about car parking. Are the parking fields close enough to the event that we can reasonably think we could go to the car during the day to get or leave some things in the trunk? Are they a 5-minute walk or a 20-minute walk from the Goodwood House?

Thank you for your help.

The regular car parks are quite a walk away. 10-minutes minimum, possibly 15 minutes. It is possible to walk to them and come back.

But there is a "bus" (tractors with trailers and seats) service around the car park once you get to it.

Don't plan to pop back to the car for anything, it takes ages and is a trek and a half.
I took a picnic lunch a few years back and wished that I hadn't bothered, it was a hassle I could have done without.

You are not allowed admission to the car-park when the fly-boys are doing their display as they manoeuvre over the parking area and it's declared temporarily out-of-bounds for safety reasons.

Take a back-pack to carry your bits and bobs and have a great day.

p.s. Unless you're up very, very early the traffic build up into F-o-S along the A27 road is usually bloody awful. Get up and get going good and early.

p.p.s. Enjoy Selsey, it's twee and quite sweet, make sure you visit the life-boat station it's brilliant.

p.p.p.s The baker in Selsey High Street is marvelous - superb buns and cakes.

Thank you very much for this information, it's very useful. When you say "early" to not have the traffic problems going north, would 7:15 or 7:30AM qualify as early enough?

i would not leave any later than those times though , as getting out of selsey can be a nightmare with rush hour traffic on week days .
its around 8 miles out of selsey to the A27 then a short drive to goodwood !

7:30 will be fine, probably busy but not mega-mad nutty traffic jams.
