Moving Motor Show - getting a drive?

I'm going to the MMS and fancy a drive up the hill in something nice - what's the best advice for getting invited in advance? I've tried looking for a list of who's participating but can't see a definite one.

I'm guessing a direct contact with an appropriate dealer (eg Audi, BMW, Jag) making noises about buying, might help - but I don't really want the hassle of fending off sales folk as I'm not necessarily looking...

The first one or two you could turn up early and maybe get a drive/ride but I think they have stopped this by just putting offers through dealers and stuff so I think it may be difficult. I'd love to drive the new clio 200 if its there but I doubt it will happen.

get there early and try lesser brands first - say your local dealer sent you and take your paper licence.
certainly skoda allocate a drive to each dealer so just give the dealer name
drove a dacia and renault last year just by getting there early and asking for a drive and got given a time
the most expensive makes will probably have the test drives booked already

I was looking round the peogeout RCZ 2 years ago and the salesman offered a drive there and then. I declined as I felt it was a feminine car, I now keep seeing one on the way to work and its starting to warm on me so regret it.

Most of the drives are all pre allocated to current customers looking to upgrade or if your on this forum and a car dealer you've allocated 3 drives to yourself.... You know who you are!!

I've always got there a bit late so think i will be one of the first ones through the gate this year to try and get a drive.

You don't always need to be early I got offered mine in the afternoon. I think quite a few people that pre book or get invited don't attend on the day so spaces come available throughout the day.

fair enough, will try my luck with some of the dealers when i get there. i always feel a bit awkward about asking as if im not allowed for some reason.
