I've never been to Goodwood Festival of Speed before. People tell me it's excellent so I decided this year I'd be organised and book some tickets in advance.

Am I missing something or is it really £113 per person per day? eek Can it really be worth £200+ (including petrol and food) and the joy of sitting in a Chichester traffic jam for several hours?

Its not a cheap day out, but it IS worth the money. There is no other day out like it for a Petrolhead.

Friday you can normally get freebies via the Daily Telegraph if you are patient.

Honest opinion from someone who's exhibited at FOS the price is not worth it no. Unless of course you are one of those overpaid bankers, in which case it's a snip

Where on earth did you get £113 per person per day?

IMHO, GFoS represents great value for money IF you're interested in everything there. If, on the other hand, you're only interested in one small aspect of it, the VFM drops considerably. As others have commented it's quite pricey on site too, which can substantially increase your total spend for the day but there's really nothing else to match GFoS for scale and breadth of content.

Goodwood is pricey, but is value for money.

I wouldn't other with Sunday though, it is mentally busy. We have always gone on Friday and Saturday, spent all day Friday doing paddocks and static displays, then Saturday watching the hill.

Even that is getting very busy now, apparently the trick is now to go Thursday to do paddocks and statics during he moving motors how thing, then hill on Friday.

Ticket is £124 for the whole weekend. Sat and Sun are £57 each day. Best wait for the Chi Observer offer and buy Sat ticket for £45 and get Friday free. And don't go on the Sunday.

I think you may be looking at the "viewing package" online, which consists of entry ticket, roving grandstand & programme. You can buy an entry ticket on its own as mentioned above, but the package is well worth it IMO.

I personally think for what you get it's a brilliant price, it really is a whole day off not stop action.

I now go on the Thursday to look at the stalls which takes a day in itself and then Sunday for the paddocks and sit on the hill to watch the action. And I'd still say I miss stuff out.

Also if you have a family the kids tickets are superb. Under 12's are free 13-21 are half price give or take.

Yes that's the one. I couldn't see the option for a simple entrance ticket on the Goodwood booking site. https://ticketing.goodwood.com/Packages1.html

I've seen now that the "Tickets" are on page 2 AFTER the packages. Ahh, sneaky!

Some good advice on the thread, thanks all!

I think it is worth the money......But they seem sell far to many tickets now days. Used to be able to sit on a bank and watch the cars go up the hill now there are so many people you get a few that stand and everyone stands. It was chocka block even at hidden little areas I thought would always be quiet.

Cant blame them for selling so many tickets but there is a point where you cant see a lot of stuff now.

I've been the past ten years on the Sunday and have never had to queue, normally aim to get there 08:30-09:00 and it's straight in.

i think it is great value for money i manage all 4 days each year plenty of time to see merchandise, pits and everythimg i want as well as spend a huge amount of time trackside and on rally stage. the way i see it is if you are spending the money get there when the gates open and leave when its dark never have a queue either.

I go all four days and think it is a good day or weekend. As I get there about 6:30am so I am ready to go in at 7am when the gates open. As on the Saturday and Sunday I want to get a good spot with my chair. I am there then all day until about six in the evening. I am local and cycle in each direction. So I have no travelling to do.
