So now that the German F1 and German MotoGP is on the 7th July will FOS change the dates ?

I dont see how they can afford to have it the same day, surely they will lose out on visitors ?

have it on the 14th, and potentially have all the F1 and MotoGP peoples..

I've just seen this too, surely Goodwood can't change dates now? - they've already sold tickets for the current date.

Like you, I'd have thought they'd lose quite a few visitors due to no F1 teams being there. You only have to look at how crowded it gets close to the track as soon as they come out.

I'm not too bothered whether they're there or not - I've seen them at full attack around Silverstone for the last few years - but I know a lot of people will miss them.

Dates on the FoS website have changed to 'TBC', tickets are temporarily unavailable.

Looks like they're changing.

I can remember once before they did change the date.

Yes they can change the date. Because I am sure I have read in their terms of conditions about the event being changed/cancelled.

Well that'll fk up those who booked accommodation etc.

I shouldn't think LM will lose any sleep over those who may lose any money as long as he doesn't rolleyes

Due to the FIA unexpectedly announcing a further change to the 2013 F1 calendar, Goodwood will now have to change the Festival’s date in order to avoid this conflict with the amended Grand Prix.

Personally I think that's hugely unfair. Hotels will honour accommodation booked - they aren't stupid regarding events like this. And surely many people would be a lot more disappointed if he didn't change the date and they didn't get to see their F1 heroes?

Hotels will be as accommodating as they can be provided firstly the booking allows changes and there are no other events on that weekend (weddings etc.).

I understand that on occasion dates have to change but this is a massive event with huge logistical challenges that aren't easily changed 7 months before the event unless the organisers are thinking about their profit. The number of F1 heroes that can't make it are few compared to those that can. There are only 22 drivers this coming year in F1 and a lot more that have driven in the past that are free than not.

I'm simply posting based on my personal experience with Goodwood who seem to put themselves first, spectators second.

I think Goodwood are in a no win situation anyway.. either they pi$$ off the people who have booked early.. or pi$$ off the people who rock up excpeting to see all the F1 stars and are disappointed... i think the latter "casual" attender would be the majority, i think they are doing the right thing moving the date.. even if its a pain for some people..

Hi all,

Sorry that we cannot be more specific at this stage but we are still waiting for confirmation of the new dates, although we are confident that we should have these in the next few days. These new dates will be announced first at www.goodwood.com, as well as contacting all 2013 FoS ticket buyers via email.

Many thanks for your patience.

Paul.

My soon to be sister in law is getting married on June 22 and the hotel nearest the venue (5 miles from Goodwood) will not take our (considerable) booking for the Saturday night as they have a "deal with Goodwood" to offer packages, so my money will be on June 22nd

Not unless they start messing with horse racing calendars.... Surely it would be moved a week to the 14th July.

Cough.......

They'll honour accommodation? It appears not.

Does Lord March care?

I think there will be be more money lost - hotels are a business, not a charity.

This will be an interesting one with the date change for many of the local hotels including that of Goodwood.

So does a hotel honour their FOS bookings, moving the dates or does it honour non-FOS bookings which could include those for weddings ?

I also pity a bridal party trying to get to the church on time !!!!
