Having just booked Revival tickets for next year and checking on the net for hotels not to far away and they are all already full. We will try speaking to reservations in person to see if they hold some rooms back. Any other suggestions/recommendations?
Camping on site in a borrowed friends camper van is an option but still not cheap.

It's a fact that all of the local hotels and guest houses, for miles around get booked up at least a year ahead.

You might consider some of the holidays-for-the-masses options on the nearby coast:

I'd suggest that you try Butlins in Bognor Regis, they're pitching for a more upmarket clientele these days and they have a huge amount of accommodation, lots of it good quality, apparently. They're about ten miles from Goodwood.

Failing that you could look at Church Farm Holiday Village in Pagham (a Haven company site)where you could get a four berth caravan by the sea-side for three nights at about £200.It's quite OK, if a little chavvy.

There's the South Downs Holiday Village in Bracklesham Bay, not sure what it's like, but it'll probably have plenty of spaces this far ahead.

On Selsey Bill there's the Bunn Leisure Caravan Park, three nights for about £2 - 300 for 2 or three people.

These will all have room for you, still available.
They're not far from the venue

Enjoy the Revival and combine it with a traditional English sea-side holiday!

There maybe some B&B's locally. But I know they have the same people stay there every year.

Or just keep searching on Google for places.

I've already got my hotel booked and paid horror, for both Goodwoods. Its a great place. Only 2.5miles from the circuit. Its my house.... :-) :-)

Never actually stayed there but this place is in a charming village perfectly placed for all Goodwood events, although last time I was down it was for sale but I don't know if that went through.

Before I managed to get my current accomodation which I book year after year( as do many people), I actually visited the area for 2 days and went in search of B&B's north of the A27. There are some that do not advertise much and you may be lucky. Chichester TIC were also very useful. Some hotels only take bookings from 1st Jan but most rebook guests year on year. Apparently, there are more people than rooms in the near vicinity.
