I was listening to Goodwood radio on my way to work in Chichester this morning, and the Brooklands tropy race had just finished. The winner Max Werner was saying how he'd driven the car (Alfa Romeo 8C2300) over from Germany, won the race today and was going to drive it back home this evening!

Don't know about the guy in the Mercedes, but in his interview directly after winning Werner said he was driving the car home this evening. He's probably there by now!

Common practice for teams to drive cars to races when that car was made. Riley drove their team cars to Le Mans and back in 1934, did rather well in the race too. Really peeved I couldn't be at Goodwood, more race photos please.

I missed that interview, but there is at least one German chap who comes across from Germany in his Merc. Usually has other stuff with him aswell and last yr even had to explain to customs why there was a spare engine in his Merc smile

I spoke to Max Werner in the evening (Sunday) and he had opted to drive the Alfa home in the morning as he was "shattered".

Can't say I blame him and it looked great as it pulled out of the members car park in the dark of the evening.
