Hi all,

I will be going to Goodwood for the first time, just for the Sunday. Where is the best place to park? Is there anything I should be aware of or need to bring.

Thanks all.

There is only one place to park. In the goodwood car parks. They will be clearly signed up from all directions. Bring a baseball bat to get the photographers out the way. Wellington boots just in case. A camera with a full battery. Shades. And depending on how your cash flow is a packed lunch and rucksack( burgers are approximately 5237 Gbp smile ) Get there early as possible if you are impatient and don't forget your tickets. Most of all have a good time thumbup my recommendations are to go see goodwood action sports and seen as you are only going for one day give the rally stage a miss as it is a long old walk smile

Good advice about the packed lunch and wellies. I'm a big Formula 1 fan so I'll see them and see what else is on. Is it a really big place?

Yes over 1 mile in length from top to bottom, last year there was 180,000 people attend. There is a tractor ride to the rally stage if you can't be bothered to walk. smile

I went for the first time last year and absolutely loved it. My only real advice is be prepared to walk a long way, pay a lot for food and have your camera at the ready but otherwise it's brilliant. Sadly, I can't go this year but will try and make the Revival.

Have a great time! smile

The FOS is the most eyepoppingly brilliant event EVER.
The Revival is stunning too - where else can you see 10 Spitfires flying in formation, and some of the most expensive cars in the world racing flat out, and meaning it?! Enjoy.

Another bit of advice on the f1 front then. Get there for gates open time and go straight to the f1 paddock and wait for the curtains to come back. They are small covered areas with a small viewing front and obviously a lot of f1 fans about so get crowded very quickly. With people pushing for photo ops. Also be aware that current season cars don't go up the hill due to testing restrictions so if you want to see them the only way is the paddock. Pot luck wether you get to hear them start it up. smile

Good idea going straight to the F1 paddock, gets very busy there!
Food wise, I always take a picnic and leave it at the car, there is a tractor shuttle back to the car park.

Seeing as most events we 've been to this year have been rained on I'm hoping for a few sunny days. Goodwood normally arranges this!

I see the car park opens at 6:30, but how early (whether that be before or after 6:30) do I need to arrive to miss the queues?

Traffic ques are not likely till after gates open which I think is half 7. There will be a que for the entry gate from 7 till 8 but as it's advanced sales only they fire people through so quick you won't be waiting there long smile

Last year was my first time and on the Saturday we aimed to get there for 8.30 (actually, we aimed for 8 but car trouble delayed us). We actually parked up about 9.15 due to the queue to get in the carpark.

If you do get stuck in the queue for parking, remember to tune the radio to the Goodwood radio channel - our 45 minute delay was taken up with an interview with Murray Walker, so wasn't all bad. smile

Best piece of advice though: work out what you want to see static and what you want to see go up the hill and plan your day accordingly. You won't see everything in one day. Which is the reason we're doing Thursday - Sunday this year biggrin
