This place is about 1 minute by car from the FOS startline. Excellent food and a big carpark!http://www.angleseyarms.co.uk/

I did exactly that last year - got a free ticket for Thursday, bought one for Friday so drove down with the intention of parking up somewhere on the Thursday night to sleep in the car.It wasn't that simple as plod were all over the place & made it quite clear that any cars parked on the side of the road overnight would be lifted & towed. Also told me that anyone caught sleeping in their cars would be breath tested & arrested if they failed the test even if they were in the back of the car so that means you dare not risk spending the night in the pub.
I eventually found a friendly camp site attendant who told me that if I sneaked the car into the car park after 9pm he would be 'on a break somewhere'. He also told me to be gone by 6am as that was when passes/booking details would be checked & if I had neither I would be in the st.
I was out of the camp site by 5.30am, parked in the official car park by 6am & eating a very expensive breakfast by 6.45am!
Not going this year due to lack of a job - therefore no funds to spend on pleasure!!
If you are careful you should be able to park up for free for the night but not in the pub car parks as they will not allow it.

I am camping here for the first time this year, and have been told that there is a Sainsbury's / Golden Arches about 3 miles away if this helps...
There is however the traffic getting into Goodwood will be horrendous so best to take plenty of supplies & leave your car at the campsite. Once left I doubt you will get back!!!Food within the FOS is very expensive although it is of good quality. Last year an organic burger & chips cost me around £6.50 with a pint of reasonable lager being a fiver from what I recall so take your own!!!

I've been staying there for the FoS and Revival for many years and it's got increasingly crowded with campers so they like to limit how many stay. They have their main pub/restaurant business which obviously takes priority.
There's a simple rural campsite near to Goodwood, in fact it's little known and in a gorgeous and very quiet location.

You may be able to wing it there and doss in the car, they're easy going and nice people, or you could buy a dead cheap tent, the pop-festival-chuck-away-type and use that. This site will not be busy and it's within a reasonable (ish) walk of a good pub / restaurant at the village of East Dean.
If you're intent on kipping in the back of the Bentley you could get way with it at The Trundle Hill car park which is discrete and secluded, it also has a pub at West Dean about half an hours walk away, the car park is at O.S. map reference: SU872109, here's a pic & details:

Sleeping in any pub car park or in a village centre would be asking for trouble and likely to end in dismay and regret. You sleep near my house & I'll call the police.

A27 junction Fontwell Avenue.Pub Called The Stables and a Travelodge next door.
Both sited in the grounds of the Fontwell Racecourse car park with free access, so don't see any issues with you kipping in the car.
FOS then a quick 5 minute drive away.
