I'm looking into organising one for a group of clients. This is the day where each person gets to drive a couple of classic cars supercars from e.g.DB4, Cobra, D-type, F360, Gallardo etc. I've received lots of positive assurance from Mithril but wanted to see if anyone has direct experience of one of these days and whether it really works. I.e. is there lots of waiting around, do guests actually get to drive the cars rather than just tool around in 4th (obviously this varies between the classics and moderns), is there enough to keep guests amused, quality of catering etc. It is a fairly might I say 'sophisticated' group of clients, many of whom will be used to high performance cars and trackdays and I just want some reassurance the event works.

I don't know about the specific event but Mithril have been at Goodwood a long long time and I'm sure in the corporate business you don't stay in business by doing things badly

I believed that the Palmersport days were the best out there for Corporate days - looked into them?

We organised a Palmersport day last year. It is absolutely brilliant but very full-on. The Goodwood/Mithril days are more relaxed social events I believe with the chance to drive some unusual cars rather than the intense competition of Palmersport. Personally I'd take the Palmer every time but the Goodwood day is more in line with what we're trying to achieve this year...

I seem to remember hearing (but not experiencing) that Mithril apply a fairly strict rev limit on some of their cars - might be worth checking with them if your taking revheads...

I've done Mithril and Palmersport and preferred the latter. You'll never hear any of the instructors at Mithril shout "more power!, more power!" like they do at PS.

Like you say - the main benefit of Mithril at Goodwood over Palmersport is the range of classic cars you get to drive, more relaxed surroundings, and you'll have the place to yourself.

If your guests average age is >40, I'd go Mithril. Under that go Palmer. We had Stirling Moss as guest of honour all day and flights in a WW2 fighter. It must have cost a fortune.

Just my opinions.

To more directly answer your questions - the driving is good, food is excellent, Mithril staff are good. Not too much waiting around - some is inevitable.

Roughly how much is the basic package per head?

Thank you, that is reassuring! I agree with you re. the Palmer days having done one last year but the brief is a little different for the Mithril event. In terms of cost, we have a full exclusive use day booked which works out at around £400 - £450 per head for c.40 participants.

I think that's decent value.

Hi
I used to work for the other company at Goodwood (Road and Track) untill they wrote off my Westfield then went Bankrupt the next week!!!
Guy's at Mithril have always done great business, good range of cars well cared for, with an excellent reputation for providing a great "experience". When looking at any of these track day companies keep in mind that that is what they are offering...an experience. The reason they have a sensible rev limit is because they have to offer the same to all, so don't expect to be hired on the day because you've shown everyone how underated your driving skills are...they've seen it all before. Just go and have fun, drive lots of great cars on a great track in an area of outstanding natual beauty. There is no greater track
